RNT2 - Foxy3 Copper with Chrome Plate
I recently received a set of the new Foxy3 cups. They are a straight set with a chrome plating. As I unpacked them, before they were even unwrapped, my initial reaction was to the size and weight of the cups. Personally, I give a lot of thought when considering weight for cup sets. My thinking is simple, I believe cups need to have a good weight to them for proper manipulation and to insure endurance for the cups appearance if performed with regularly. Meaning… they should be tanks. At the same time, excessive weight can also hinder a performance and too heavy of a cup could in fact become chore like (as if the C&B's could ever be a chore). The size of these cups in comparison to the weight they hold is perfectly proportional. They feel great in the hands and I couldn't wait to knock them around a bit. Then I unwrapped them. As the the neatly wrapped cups were ripped to shreds in anticipation, the chrome mirror gleam shown through and I felt an instant stab of guilt. How could I, only a moment ago, have wanted to knock and bang these cups around? They are too perfect. I actually mean that! I have never encountered a flawless cup, I can say this was the first time. With the chrome plate, there isn't even a hint of spin lines, and the mirror finish is so smooth, I'm just going to hang the cups in my bathroom to replace my sink mirror. I was VERY pleased with the quality of the set but I'm not going to lie, I was a little worried. It was that feeling of something being "too nice to use". I never felt that before when it came to cup sets, and it put me in a weird position. I have these amazing cups but can I bring myself to use them??? (Don't lie, most of you know that feeling) I called Donnie just to ask if there was a clear coat that could possibly chip or mark, and he said no. That said, these are the definition of a beautiful high class tank. They can take a beating and keep on gleaming! The inside of the cup is possibly my favorite feature. They are a perfect copper matte finish, anyone who has a Buckley legacy copper cup knows what I am talking about. It's as if the inside of the cup was done with as great of care as the outside. The best thing about the flat copper on the inside of the cup is that it will not reflect a red ball hiding inside. This is an important feature when attempting to use chrome, aluminum, or silver colored cups and have a ball colored something other than white, silver, or light blue. So there must be some draw back right? Well, I don't know about that! My favorite cups are the standard PF cups and they get the most use, but I like the weight of the Foxy3's much better. I'm on the line with this… literally. Meaning, I like the bead lines of the PF cups better than the Foxy3 BUT the weight, size and look is better than the PF. The PF weight is a product of the tooling and they are excellent. I guess I have two favorites now! The Foxy3 will allow for a bigger final load that looks even more impossible due to its shorter, stockier design. I think for me the Foxy3 is an equal draw to the PF cups design and you should just get both! One suggestion I would like to publicly make to Donnie, PLEASE create a great logo for the Foxy line of cups and start making embroidered bags. These cups are so great, they deserve it. Hmmm, that's got me wondering if I should reach for the polish now... I let me copper Foxy 3's patina, they are looking nice but seeing that mirror finish has me thinking! Lovely cups....
