I recently attended a Magic Club meeting in Yokosuka, Japan, were they did a trick that went something like this. Magician shows a folded newspaper under his lift arm. He takes the newspaper out and cuts out a semi-circle from the corner, which eventually become a full circle piece. They he takes the circular piece, shreds it and restores it to a square piece. Then he drops the folded newspaper down and it reveals a square in the middle which perfectly matches the piece he just restored. I know I've seen this trick before many times, but I can't place who created it. I asked the people in the Magic Club, but they didn't know. Any help here? Is it Gene Anderson?

Thanks Pete & Bill - like I said it was presented and revealed at a magic workshop here in Japan and I know I've seen it before done many times, so I knew it was already "out there." Turns out Hank Lee sells Squircle for %7.50. I've done it a couple of times and I would say it doesn't hold any water next to Gene Anderson's class T&R routine which I've been doing for many years and I own his book, so I feel like I'm doing him great justice. I just don't like doing a trick and not giving the proper credit to the inventor. For now I'll put it in the category of tricks that I might teach beginners.
