Don't know if I'll get it but I like Gene Anderson's Picto Transpo. A great Parlor and up effect. Terrific spectator interaction and wonderful Magic as well. Oh yea, good for kids or adults.

that's the first thing that comes to mind but I bet I'll think of others.

Thanks for the great question AmateurTom.

Mary:

Picto is a great effect. I've had it for some time now and it's really a nice package. If you get it PM me for some suggestions.

For Christmas I'm thinking of Daytona's prediction board. Not doing any mentalism at the moment, and this looks promising.

My neighbor rang my doorbell at 2:30 a.m. this morning, can you believe that, 2:30 a.m.!? Lucky for him I was still up playing my drums.

If you're REALLY into magic, go to my magic website (listed under this post, with the word "magic" in it) to see which of my items are currently available. Or - don't. Best - Harry L.

Boy would I love Outlaw Effects' Re-animator. Sadly, I doubt I will be able to animate enough cash in time for Christmas.

Lets take a look at my wish lists...

On the magic list we have:

Harris and Shufton's X-Ray
Peter Nardi's iChange
Kenpper's Kolossal Killer book
A hand flint flasher of some kind
The 2 Volume combo reprint of Tommy WOnder's Books of Wonder
The 3 DVD Invisible Hand DVD set
A Beyond Okito box and /or the Boston Box to match my existing viking okito box
The Viking Zombie Ball which I hear is quite good (not that I don't have 3 zombies already if you include my miracle ball...)
The Collector's Worksop FireFlower if they ever re-stock it.

Is there a decent Picto Transpo performance online?

Found one at Gene's site. There's a bit of an edit/jump cut in the middle though and in the video I don't quite understand where the other picture went since his looks blank...

Cyberquat, I saw your post somewhere else recently and you were looking for a finger flasher of some sort. I have one made out of brass, painted flesh color that lights flash cotton. it has a ring that you place on your index finger to flash it. The flash is so quick and astonishing, you've ditched it before the specs even know what happened. I love it and it only costs about $15. If you want to pursue this, PM me and I can tell you where to get one from a brick and mortar in Long Islan, NY. I believe he makes them himself. Best, Bob

Thanks Bob, I've found a couple flint and steel types. Viking has a few and Alakazam USA carries one. I've also seen one electric one, I'm not sure if that's worth the extra expense/bother or not.

Is yours flint and steel? If so how reliable is the lighting?

Cyberquat, mine is brass and flint, painted flesh color and is pretty reliable....seems like the more I use it, the more reliable it gets. Might have something to do with the new flint wearing in properly. It's not a hundred percent though..but usually flashes on the second strike, which, once again by the time the spec has a chance to absorb what happened, I'm ot even sure they know it missed the first strike. I actually like mine a lot....now I wish I could find a source for cheap flash cotton! I've always liked Viking products and if you get that one, keep me in mind and let me know how it works? Thanks! Dear Cyberqat,

I don't know if it is online. The basic effect of Picto Transpo is both you and a spectator draw a little cartoon and put them in separate envelopes and they switch places. Simple but there is a lot of good interaction and fun with the volunteer.

Gene sent me the DVD that goes with the effect because I was there for his video shoot. Seeing it live and on the DVD I was really impressed with his clear performance tips and the great effect in the end. If you are not clear and direct (while being fun) with this you can end up with a confused audience. By the way, Gene is a riot.

What am I waiting for? Apparently I'm sold!
