Just recieved an email from Paul Gordon mentioning his new packet trick.
EXCITING TIMES: "Psychedelic Foursome" is simply the VERY BEST (and pretty easy) packet trick I've ever devised. I started working on it in 2008 and only just licked it! It's a "twisting the aces" style routine. Effect: A four of a kind is openly displayed. They are turned face down and the top card is flipped face up. (Regular backs shown throughout the routine.) Instantly, all the cards magically turn face up. The packet is turned face down and one by one three of the cards magical turn ("twist") face up. Then, the spade does a couple of extra revolutions! Finally, all four cards are CLEANLY shown to have four different colour/style backs. And ALL can be examined immediately. You instantly end clean and the reset is instant. I PROMISE you. It's that good. That strong. Am I excited? You bet I am. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZSXSbQdw2M Looks really good and knowing Paula material it is likely to be pretty easy to do. I'm definetely going to Get this or at least hint to my wife that it'd make a good stocking filler. |

I think it's a little too confusing to tell you the truth. Check out John Bannon's "Spin Doctor" for a similar effect that I think is a little better.

I agree with Caleb. I think Paul Gordon had his pinnacle packet trick with corner of Picadilly (sorry for the spelling)

Blimey - "confusing" ? Surely not. I've seen far more 'difficult to follow' effects than that. I quite like it. Trouble is, its just a little to similar to many, many, others in that genre.

Begining to see a Bannon trend with MR Gordons work. Well I use the term "mr gordons" loosely !

Woow, those two effects are near to dead on! But I think the Bannon version is much more effective. The blank faced card is a lot better as opposed to the Queen just being put into the pocket in Pauls version. Its just a shame that Mr Bannons trick seems to be re-released under a new name and a slightly altered handling.

I've been performing the great Spin Doctor (John Bannon's) for well over a year and it is simply awesome. Strangly I have found the strongest part to be where the Ace of Spades vanishes instead of the colour changing backs!
It appears Mr Gordon has copied almost every part of the trick except the best bit! I'm sure he is a really creative guy but there have been to many inferior versions of Bannon tricks lately. I hate seeing Mr Bannons work slaughtered like this :-( |

Paul has released some great material over the years, but I have to agree with Caleb here. The 'extra' revolutions and re-appearance of the King of Spades is confusing. The final phase actually tips the method and the red backed card is flashed at the very beginning.
There is much better fractal card magic out there. Keep searching. Marty |

Just got it. It's clever because it uses only 4 cards. I like that. And, Marty...the red-backed card is supposed to flash. That's the point!? As most guys know in Chicago, the main phase aint Bannons at all. It's Eddie Marlo's from "Magzine" 1 in 1976. JP

Fredface,
Have you tried this out in the real world? If so, how are the reactions? |

Quick look at "Fredface" and his profile. His last 30 days history is rather interesting. The hobbit is leaning towards say "shananagins" there

This is so clearly a pathetic copy. I'm suprised it isn't named Dr Spin. Do yourself a favour and buy Mr Bannons, it's better and you will be supporting someone who desrves it!!!
