Hi guys,

Last weekend we did the premiere of an illusion built by a friend from Spain called "Pandora box". A classic with some good ideas and modifications.
it has a lot of good details on the building process and it packs really small.
We have filmed it and I would like to share it with you.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0SQdNh6kxo

I hope you like it!

it was the premiere and I did some movements wrong, hope you could understand it! hehehe

If you would like to get more info about it, do not hesitate on contacting me.

All the best!

Great work!

Spinning the box is a really nice touch and a great convincer.

I also liked the sub-trunk on legs. When a lot of lay people see it they still believe she just jumps down behind the trunk, again another great convincer that this is not what's happening.

Well done!

Bravo Hector,
but I will say one thing:

This Act and many similar ( especialy the Magic Unlimited 's act whit their Cartoon box and many others performers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MA35BJ3q_o ) are really really similar ( but I don't want say copyed I prefer you will think on it) to the old IMAGIA Act ,

it was performed few years ago for a FISM and aroud the world.

Anyway I know ,
The Gift box idea is not new but the way IMAGIA has performed it at that time was new:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74Q9E7w1cg0 ,
what is sad nobody remember or mention them here,
Marcus.

Hi dude,

Of course I remember I.MA.G.I.A Smile

They had a very original act. But it is true, for some reason the Magic Unlimited's version has become very popular.

There are dozens of different adaptations of this illusion out there (as you know, some of them older than IMAGIA's).

As you can see, the one I use is different in routine, method (or way to hide it) and looking. This is why I wanted to share it with you. In order to add new ideas to the magic community. I am not getting a penny with this Smile

All the best!

BTW, does anyone know who became with this illusion first? was it the "no feet" illusion?

No ,
doesn't come from no feet ( anyway also the " no feet illusion" was copyed and this was done from Mr. Kole ,the original idea come from Carson),

I can't say you exactly from where it come from at the moment,

but here in Europe and Italy ( I think you already know this Hector) the Gift box Illusion ( here in Italy it's called like this from a long time) it's an old Illusion and performed a really long time before than IMAGIA and all the others,

Ali Bongo came up with the idea for the Paul Daniels show.
It was later published in Andrew Mayne's book - he calls it 'Special Delivery'
Magic unlimited made it famous (I saw M.U. do it before I.MA.G.I.A so I believe they where first with the routine of making the box float and to spin the box around around with the hands falling out)

Looks great Hector!! Phenominal job!!

On a side note....I don't really get what you are trying to say Marcus. Of course his act will be somewhat similiar to others, it's the same illusion! His performance isn't copied at all. That's like saying somebody's origami illusion is too similiar to Copperfields because the girl got folded into a small box and three swords were put in it. What I think is sad is that Hector openly said this is a classic illusion and not his.....did you just feel the need to remind him again by telling him it's not new? Maybe you didn't mean anything buy it, but to me it sounded like a put down.

Personally I thought Hector's version was the best out of all the video's posted.......even with your wrong movements (of which I didn't catch)! VIVA LA NUEVA MAGICA!!

on a side note in Andrew Mayne's Special Delivery and the others mention the magician leg is in front of the gimmick but I don't think so on Hector's Version.

You're right illusionman2.
That's my friend's idea (I haven't seen any other yet... am I wrong?).
It is one of the twist that this illusion has.

All the best.
