Though the article focuses on Wikileaks, I think the topic of cognitive dissonance, and the repression/ignoring/dismissing of and rationalizing around that which conflicts with ones world view was appropriate to some here. Of course, on many levels I applies to us all.

Lobo: Just a general comment about juxtaposition. It is not necessarily innocent.

Carrie: 'I'm as tolerant as the next person.[sic] I am happy to allow people to live their lives in peace. Nevertheless, when they attempt to overthrow the foundational institution of society, I must object.
Discrimination is not wrong in every form.... The point is that we should not discriminate against people but against behavior. A bank discriminates against a person with a history of larceny, for example. Marriage is the traditional way that men are civilized, women are protected, and children are raised to be healthy and well-adjusted. Homosexual acts are morally wrong for the following reasons: 1. The natural anatomy of the body including organ function and reproduction rejects the "naturalness" of homosexual acts. At the risk of being crude, a man's bottom is not designed to accept the introduction of another man's ***, or anything else. It is the vagina of the female that is designed for the man's ***, obviously. 2. The medical consequences of homosexual acts indicate that the behavior itself is selfish rather than loving. The median homosexual life span is about 40 years, a little more than half of the general population. Source: Cameron, P., Cameron, K., Playfair, WL., "Does Homosexual Activity Shorten Life? ", Psychological Reports, 1998, 83, pp. 847-66. (other studies confirm this) "[W]hen you thwart a thing's design, it no longer does what it is supposed to do. It either works badly, stops working, or breaks. Something goes terribly wrong." - J. Budziszewski, "What We Can't Not Know." 3. The evidence of personal guilt experienced by those who engage in homosexual acts, whether or not they still feel such guilt. Human beings have a great propensity to suppress what condemns their behavior while aggressively concocting rationalizations to support it. No one wants to admit that their behavior is wrong, especially if they don't *want* to stop doing it. Ultimately, the decision to participate in homosexual behavior, like any other sin, is a choice. The law is the great teacher. Bad secular ideas leads to bad civil laws which lead to bad moral behavior. It affects everybody when bad laws are enacted. What I want to do is counter these bad secular ideas and either stop bad civil laws from being enacted or repeal bad civil laws which are already enacted so that our country may return to true moral behavior. As for how "gay marriage" would degrade the institution of marriage, check this out: http://www.frc.org/content/ten-facts-about-same-sex-marriage I don't know what studies you're reading, but the actual population of homosexuals in the United States is less than half of what you said. It's about 2-4%. Any suggestion that there are "millions of others" is an argument from lack of evidence, except for the truism that when bad behavior is legalized you get more of it.' Also, well, I guess I'm actually NOT that surprised she's continuing to spread this BS, even though she's been presented with much of the evidence refuting the studies she cites, and she has even conceded that they are all pretty much inconclusive, and/or unfounded.
Still spreads them as fact though. Certainly show's her honesty.

Carrie, have you ever wondered how the cliche of the bitter, sexless, nasty old spinster always worried about what fun other people were having came about?

Is that true that the average life span of a homosexual is only 40 years?

Fact one of Carrie's quote seems to indicate there's an unhealthy preoccupation with who's sticking what where. A bit of education in the matter could help. For one, that form of intercourse is preferred by less than 50% of homosexuals.
