I am looking for some methods of a bill serial devination effects. I am not looking for pre-show work. I like to do it impromtu if possible. does someone has some books resources or dvd's. I like to create my own but need some technical inspiration to get started.

A himber wallet would provide an easy option.

Matt Mello has an impromptu version on his latest video release "Modern Mentalism". It's simple, clean, and pretty straight forward.

Modern Mentalism DVD #1 has a lot of great material and I reccomend it, but I wasn't a fan of the serial divination, which was the reason I made the purchase.
Part of the reason is due to the currency here in Canada. The presentation and 'justification' for the move needs to be tailored for Canadian currency, which weakens the effect IMO. Also, I felt the method didn't meet my 'must belief' or conviction standards, even with the US currency format. I would recommend the Himber/Showdown wallet and a good mnemonic system. |

Magic Maniac -- the away I actually use it -- I have the spec look at the letter that is on the front of the bill (this only works on US currency, $1 bills), and then use Joshua Quinn's Thought Chunneling to read their mind on a thought of word. So it doesn't even seem like the purpose is to figure out the serial number. Only after I reveal the word they are merely thinking of, so I ask them to go ahead and look at the serial number -- this provides some nice time misdirection. It has a nice one-two punch. Don't know if Canadian currency has a letter on the front too, but if so, it's worth checking out.

I use a very easy method that I learned from Juan Ordeix, the former FISM mentalism champion, in a lecture he did in Quito.
You need any cheap calculator, that you can buy anywhere on the market, and just very little preparation plus a little misdirection at the right moment. I learned it three years ago and it stills one of the most powerful effects I present. Giovanni. |

A method I like and have used for years: A simple TT sw****, set up ala Barrie Richardson using middle finger. Plays impromtu (vs. himber wallet or use of other device for sw****). Everyone takes out a bill, then folds it identically "to hide the serial number". A bill is chosen and then passed to a selected person for "sending" and verification...you know the serial number.
