Years ago I bought a trick in which a fly is sitting on the deck, gets squashed, and his "remains" are splattered on the chosen card. Does anybody know who made and/or marketed that deck?
Thanks! |

Aldo Colombini had an effect like that. His was with a packet of cards. Very funny. How are you doing Greg?

Zane sells a trick called Fly Catcher which sounds similar http://www.zanesmagicshop.com/shop/products/zms0115.html

The trick I'm asking about was an entire deck. That trick from Zanes Magic Shop is not it. By the way, that demo video uses the most annoying effect I have ever seen. It was difficult to watch the entire thing.
The reason I'm asking is that I've developed an updated version with jumbo cards that works well on stage. I want to make sure I'm not stepping on anybody's toes before I begin making and marketing them. -------------------------------------------------- Howdy Charlie!! I'm doing well, married (again) and living just outside of Atlanta near Stone Mountain. Are you still in SF? Find me on Facebook! |

The Great Benjamin (Dick Koornwinder): A fly finds the spectator's selection using a heavily gimmicked deck.
Sold by Ken Brooke. Best Wishes Peter

I had one in the 80's called The Invisible Fly by P.Cinimod still have instructions but no deck Effect a card is selected Free choise you fails to find the card so you call on your trained fly he appears wearing his clown out fit you're so excited you slaps the deck. What about the seleced card and there is the fly smashed on one card and it's the selected card.In this version the fly seems to crawl out of the center of the deck.Says it is brought to you by Dom Paolino.

Yes pduffie, that's the one! Now I just need to track down Ken Brooke and Dick Koornwinder to get their ok on my update. Thanks!
Are either of these two people in the Magic Café here? |

If either Dick or Ken reply to you here on the Café you'll have yourself a SENSATION. I believe Dick passed on a couple of years or more ago and it will soon be thirty years since Ken left the stage.

Oh, I'm certainly not keeping up with the people in magic. Since they are no longer around, and therefore probably not making this trick anymore, would it be ok for me to produce and market them?

Fly On A Deck is P-Cinimod Magic By Dominic Paiolino who is alive and well here in Philadelphia Pa. before you reproduce or imitate his work you need to get a copyright from him or license to produce his magic tricks. he isn't very good when it comes to computers. but as I am a good friend of his and I know the web you can contact him through me

Re-visiting this thread:
I liked both Dick Kornwinder's "Benjamin" and Dominic Paolino's "Return of the Fly." Paolino's effect had the great added tocch of the spectators actually seeing the fly crawl across the back of the card. Does anyone know how Dick felt about Paolino's twist on the basic effect? There's an underlying question whenever one magician adapts another magician's effect/idea--such as: How did Burling Hull feel when the "Svengali Deck" principle was adapted for "Mental Photography?"* How did Joe Karson feel when Norm Nielsen applied his "Zombie" principle to a violin? How did Paul Harris feel when Tenyo adapted his "Twilight" effect for their trick "Eclipse" (which actually used a diabolically clever/different method). *I suppose one could argue that the "Svengali Deck" is the "Stamp Album" modus adapted to a deck of cards. ----- Amado "Sonny" Narvaez
