Anyone use a B.O.B. type trailer or a Burley trailer to transport your rig to the pitch? I'm thinking of getting something like this (sick of taking the bus...) I'd LOVE to get a "Xtracycle" style bike for the task, but those things are really, really expensive...
Any suggestions?

Gaddy, try Instructables.com. Lots of trailer designs there, most of which can be made with hand tools for under $200.

Quote: Thanks Chance but that's approx. the cost of a Burley trailer as well (which, admittedly, is not my first choice... But probably the most practical, cost/benefit wise)

Barely better than SF. Not recommended.
When I see the different trailer designs I don't just see a bike trailer, I see a custom show trailer with built in features such as table, sevant, lights, etc. The Burley trailer I like best for general purposes is this one, the Travoy: http://www.burley.com/products/cargo-utilities/travoy.cfm |

I have used one to transport a non-magic pitch to a festival. Weight isn't too much of an issue.
TIP: You need to make sure you cycle further out in the road to avoid banging into parked cars. Common sense I know but it is funny how easily you forget. |

Quote: I contemplated the travoy. It's still on the list of possibilities. I have a hard time believing that a trailer with that short of a wheel base can be very stable, also since it's "fold-up", I worry that it might not be as durable as I'd like it to be (too many moving parts...)

At one point there was a flood of knock-off's of the BOB style trailer, only larger- on the multi-colored auction site, but there are none there now. Ah, well... The search continues!

I went with THIS, eventually. The price was excellent, and it's going to be useful for other tasks as well...
