I'm heading to Las Vegas in two weeks and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good close up magic show/performer. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks, Jacob |

Thanks Barry!
There ya go. All the details too. The Dirty Jokes Show is another one to see at Hooters Casino. Nothing but great things heard about it and The Kenner's, (Chris more than Katie) have become somewhat regulars. Too bad, Katie is the fun one. Chris just slumps around... J Edit: Not magic but heard great things and relatively low key still. |

Mac King, without hesitation.

Mac King, Paul Vigil and Penn and Teller do some closeupish stuff. Also Boomers has Gary Darwin club gathering on wendsday evenings and you might pump into some magicians at Denny & Lee studio. Besides that, Go see Blueman group Best show in Vegas and in the world... Magicians didn't come even close when I was there year ago (going again in few months)

All good suggestions. Unfortunately when Michael Skinner died back in 1998 that really was the end of being able to see real close up magic in Vegas performed on a regular basis and in a real close up format. Right now Paul V. is probably as close up magic you are going to get. Mac running a close 2nd. Gone are the lost real close up days in Vegas of Michael Skinner, Jimmy Grippo, Johnny Paul, Daniel Cross.

Hey all,
I'll be in Vegas during the Christmas period. Do you know if Mickey Silver performs at Vegas? Last time I checked information about him, I saw pictures of him on the streets of Vegas. I would love to be able to watch him in action. Thanks! |

Paul Vigil without a second question..
you should talk to me mate Mike, he does the lights for Criss Angle.. even if you're not a fan of criss ( I personally detest him) he knows what goes on magically there since he's part of the "inner Circle" also Depending on when you go Jeff McBride's Wonderground is a hands down must |

This will sound like a broken record, but...Just saw Paul's show over Thanksgiving. It is fabulous, and free. Very close up. Mac King Show is an incredible show biz experience. You can also check out Kevin Burk's comedy mentalism show, it is also excellent.

Don't miss Paul Vigil. We were there in November and had a great time. What a terrific performer! Not to be missed.

Thanks again for the suggestions! I saw Mac King, couldn't make it to see Paul. (Maybe next time.) Mac King was great, very funny, talented and quick witted. We enjoyed him a lot. My wife and I even got on stage to help with his cards across routine.

When is vigil performing? I am going out there in June.
So now, less than five years later, you can go up on a steep hill in Las Vegas and look West, and with the right kind of eyes you can almost see the high-water mark — that place where the wave finally broke and rolled back.
