It looks pretty interesting actually.
Thought you folks should be aware of it at least... http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/summit/thebeaver/ |

Maybe it was the beaver making those racist and anti-Semitic remarks.

Well, you may be close Bob, "beaver" - "bottle" - they both start with a "b".
I could be tempted to see this because I love the adult Jodie Foster, not enough to take a pot-shot at a president, (though many might appreciate that now), I think she is very good in any part I've seen her play. I've always enjoyed Gibson's performances as well, as for what goes on in his personal, that's his problem.

I just watched the trailer and was surprised to see that Gibson didn't learn some vent techinques for voicing the beaver puppet. May end up being a decent movie. I have yet to see a film that has Foster in it that wasn't pretty darn good. I also like Gibson's acting talent. Too bad he has such damaging personal problems. IMO.

It might have been out of character for Mel's character to have vent skills. This way, it's just a crazy guy with a puppet rather than an insane Ventriloquist movie.

GOOD POINT!! Now that I think about it, he probably shouldn't have learned vent to voice his beaver puppet! I did like the Brittish accent he gives the puppet when it talks!

I've only seen a bit of a trailer, but I think the accent is his own natural Australian one!

Hah, that would be funny if the Beaver was his Mad Max Persona

It's got Jodie Foster in it. I'm buying a ticket!

From watching the trailer, I have to say it looks like a movie that either is going to be totally great or totally suck. Looks like no in between for this kind of plot.

You're right Doug, though my guess would be that Foster and Gibson will be able to carry it and make it good.

Yeah, it's one of those high concept things that could either be really good or absolutely dreadful. Probably no middle ground.
Foster is top drawer and Gibson, though a violent mean-spirited loon, is a talented violent mean-spirited loon. We'll see. -Philip |

I'll say one thing for Mel. He sure has a lot of guts.

Or arrogance - something I wouldn't have said before his little episodes.

I can't help it, but somehow to me he just looks SILLY standing there with that beaver puppet on his hand.
