Hello my name is Joe. I am fairly new to the magic Café and have a question. I have been performing on the streets for about a year now. I have the cellini dvds. Full of great info. I was curious if any body knew of any books or dvds with material geared to the street?
Thanks, Joe |

Can you clarify what you mean by "performing on the street"? Are you busking for money?

“Ultimate Street Magic: Amazing Tricks for the Urban Magician,” by Gary Sumpter.
“The Complete Idiot's Guide to Street Magic,” by Tom Ogden. If you want a beautiful overview of the history of “Street Magic” before the very modern era of Blaine, etc., try Edward Claflin and Jeff Sheridan’s “Street Magic.” This OOP book is an illustrated history of wandering magicians and their conjuring arts; a fascinating look at the history of magic as a public performance. Contents include Tribal Ways & Ancient Traces, Mysteries of the Fakirs, Hindu Tricks & Wonders, Oriental Fantasies, Jugglers Mountebanks and Necromancers, Wandering Magicians & Their Arts, Conjuring at the Fair, Stage Illusions and Street Diversions, The Age of Houdini, Street Magic & Kindred Spirits, and a special (truly!) chapter on Street Magic by Jeff Sheridan.
"Is there any point to which you would wish to draw my attention?"
"To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time." "The dog did nothing in the night-time." "That was the curious incident," remarked Sherlock Holmes. |

Hi Joe,
Welcome to the Café. Those resources have already been discussed pretty extensively on other threads here on the Café. Here are a couple links; http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......art=0#23 http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......art=0#26 Good luck on the street. Epop |

You might also want to read the threads on "Busking" vs. "Street Magic in the David Blaine style". The above referenced books by Sumpter and Ogden are geared toward the Blaine school rather than the centuries old art of busking for a living. You are unlikely to make a living emulating Blaine's style of magic.
