Anyone know if you can use your own die?
I'm thinking Multi Dimensional and you don't see the number chosen |

Looks interesting, although for $85.00 it's surprising there aren't already a bunch of reviews on the Café from people who have actually bought and used this.
It was put out late last year. So for me, the lack of reviews is a bit of a concern. |

Artie if you understand french, come on the french magic forum, there is lot of comments about Gambler.
http://www.virtualmagie.com/ubbthreads/u......st273669 Don't know if you can read it without login on the forum. All of the comments are really positive, and all of the customers are very enthusiastic about Gambler. It's not only a trick, you can perform a 5-6 minutes mentalism routine with the props, and the routine was tested by Julien during severals years in real condition. |

Hint:
Skip to page #8 on the French Thread for the meat and potatoes as the prior pages all read pretty much like the one's here at the Café - criticism of the teaser trailer, wondering if MC is used to F***e things, etc. No matter the language, the bickering and speculation sound familiar!

Penguin is now selling this too - http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S13261
Obviously distribution is happening in the United States too. I read the entire thread on the French web site and the reviews are overwhelmingly positive. There are a few language errors but it seems that French speaking magicians are quite happy with Gambler.

Picked this up today and was disappointed that I did. Very, very, basic principles and tools used, nothing special for the money. To the advertisements credit, it does actually say that. I thought it would be more for the money. For me it was way overpriced. If it sold for $35 I'd be less disappointed but would still put it in the back of the draw.

Yes, lot of them test it and approve the trick. And now the trick was in their close-up case. And of course it's more expensive for American customers due to the conversion for you between euros and dollars. |

For what its worth here's my review.
Firstly for me any effect comprises of two parts , the hardware and the software. The hardware is good and can be presented with confidence in all close up conditions as long as you have a table and no jacket is required. So now we come to the crux of this effect. The techniques used will be familiar to most experienced magicians but the same can be said for the majority of tricks released. What makes this a winner is the great use of these techniques to produce an interesting storyline and a punchy ending which most spectators will applaud. Is this value for money ? Well not if you add up the cost of the props or are looking for some new mind blowing method. However if you want an effect that plays well , is certainly entertaining and doesn't require a huge amount of skill then this may suit you. To me this is a worker and I will use it.I will give it 8 out of 10 because I love the storyline and hats off to Julien for coming up with that before anyone else. BARRY |

The idea of using a gambling theme for a three-part prediction is that of Doc Shiels and was published in an early Invocation magazine (Chips, Dice, Cards).
You can find Ross Johnson's version on his Simply Psychic DVD and Docc Hilford's version on his Monster Mentalism DVD set. Both are well worth your time checking out if this type of routine appeals to you. |

My impression is this:
1. People expecting a method with no outs are likely to be disappointed and feel that they drastically overpaid for the props. 2. People expecting a method with multiple outs, and who have some experience in magic already, have already deduced the method (or a similar one) without much effort. |
