Most guys starting out in the magic pitch business seem to think pitching 100 items is the answer.But its so obvious.If it worked all pitchman would be pitching more than one item.Not once have I ever seen a kitchem gadget pitchman pitch more than one item.They all find out in very short time its not the thing to do and should have listen to me.

Yep, Don's well worth listening to. He's the man on the pitch.

Ted, have you thought about working some of the gun shows and other hobby shows in South Cali? I think that would be a better spot to sell at and break yourself in rather then the spot you are at.

If you want to combine the splats with the magic, do a very quick demo (15 seconds) of the splat and then go into your magic, tell them they get a free splat ball when they purchase the deck or whatever. Adjust price accordingly. I have had some monster days selling splats and float this, but do prefer to either stick to the magic or the splats. Or get two spots and have someone else sell the splats.

I've seen David Walker's guy, Brian, selling cards. He's a real whiz. And he sells to everyone--old and young alike. I truly have a problem attempting to sell the cards to adults. Maybe it's just a mental block but I do. So I sell my strippers to the adults and sell the cards mainly to kids.

Since I have them both on my table (the cards in an old Loftus "Magic Cards" box) once in a while, while demoing the strippers, an adult will ask about the cards and I'll demo them, too. But ONLY after getting the money for the strippers. Invariably, if I don't get the money first, they want me to give 'em the deck free. But I do say, "OK, since you got the strippers, you can have the cards for only $5." Sometimes they buy, sometimes not.

Rarely, after I demo the cards, an adult will ask about the strippers. I say, "I'll be happy to show you but let's finish the cards first blah blah blah." I RARELY sell strippers after a card demo.

So I as much as possible, tho I sell both on the same table, I keep the cards and the strippers separate. I'm not a magic store nor a tool store. I sell strippers and I sell cards. Just not usually to the same people.

Talking about perfect locations, can someone amswer this:

I live in Europe with EC passport, turn 50 next year with an enforced 4 month sabbatical.
What about visiting USA for pleasure mixed with a tiny bit of profits/ saving costs, by pitching somewhere for say max 3 weeks?

Know of a killer location any place or time?
Feel free to PM me if youd rather not disclose this info in public

Iugefu,
If you can perform and demo the hummer card, I can set you up with a spot.

To everyone looking for spots;
especially just weekend spots near you, here is a big tip. Go to your local TV and newspaper websites and look at the event listings. You may also be able to negotiate a free spot in exchange for your show (the demo.)

Also check out http://www.craftmasternews.com/. It is a paid membership site, but worth it, if you use it.
