So I did two hypno shows this past weekend... Friday night's show rocked! Sat night's however was mediocre at best. Right before I was introduced for Saturday's show the DJ in the next room at the hotel fired up his dance music and it was so loud that I was certain that it was coming from the DJ in our room. The hotel was using those portable walls to divide one large room into several and the DJ next door had his speakers backed up against that flimsy wall. Meanwhile my stage was also backed up to this same wall (and his speakers). I dispatched someone to request that the DJ next door lower the music to which he declined, then I went over to talk to him personally (all while having 12 volunteers sit on stage waiting for my return along with the audience) and despite my polite requests to turn the volume down just for 10 minutes while I do the induction and or to simply move the speakers away from the wall he very rudely told me it was not his problem.
But the show went on and although I told my volunteers that "no sounds or music would disturb them" during the induction I never really felt like I had anyone very deeply under. I did get responses and I did the whole show but I just felt I was arm wrestling the whole time trying to get them deeper and meanwhile having no real faith that anyone would respond positively due to the fact that they were not exactly "rock stars". So what do you think? Did the loud music next door make having a good show impossible or was it just a bad show. I also realize that perhaps me thinking that the distraction was too great did not help either. What do you think?

I know you hear all the stories about how you just use the ambient noise and yada yada yada. I don't buy them totally. You did what you could. The music definately had an impact on the show.

I would have thought your music would have over powered his music from the other room as soon as you started. If his speakers were up against the shared wall facing the other direction I would think it would have been fine. I've had this happen too many times and once my music started, it was never a thought again. Of course you can always include the sounds into your induction as a deepener, etc.
You are correct though, it is a shame that of practically all types of entertainers we work with, in all types of performance venues, DJs continually seem to be the most difficult to work with. I would have also thought this, as a possibility or potential problem, should have been addressed in advance with the person hiring you AND the banquet manager/director to try to prevent this from happening or at least to bring it's potential problem to their attention before your event or performance. Trust me, no venue wants to risk an unhappy client and jeopardize their possibility for a return booking. If the Banquet Manager told the DJ to bring it down, there would have been results. At least maybe they could have had both of you setup differently. I feel your pain. |

That's the nature of hypnosis shows. You don't always have control over the outcomes. Sometimes you can even have one of your best shows in difficult conditions and the next time you struggle in good conditions.
>>>>> But the show went on and although I told my volunteers that "no sounds or music would disturb them"<<< That is not the greates suggestion to give. You would be better using suggestion along the following.... " every breath you take....every movement you make...every word I speak can take you deeper and deeper...even the sounds that you hear....from the audience....even jeers take you deeper and deeper....and the music next door as it gets louder the deeper you go....in fact anything that comes into your awareness can be a signal to your unconscious mind to go deeper deeper.....five deeper deeper ....four deeper etc" Use the sounds around you. To suggest "won't disturb you" can some suggest that it will. But start with their internal experience and move out... But if the music was so loud they had trouble hearing you then there really is not much you could do. |

Thanks everyone for your input. Yes the music was really loud (again it was so loud that I thought it was coming from the speakers in our room from our DJ) and I would have gotten the banquet manager involved along with the person that hired the DJ for the party next door if it had not been for the fact that it started right before I was introduced and ready to walk on-stage.
The DJ at our party was awesome and accommodating but the DJ in question lacked professionalism in everything from his physical appearance to his actions.

Bobser the guy does shows. Its not about "dropping people" I think you should learn how to hypnotise people safely first before you go into pubs and endanger the public and put venues at risk of being sued. You and your head HACKS are amatuers who still don't know the basics.
It was only a year or so you were learning off Ant and he was learning off here. that's the scarey thing about all of this. You are all deluded into thinking you know everything. You ignore safety guidelines put forward by the government after a lot of research. Actually much of it is common sense. You probably don't even know what they are. You attack unsuspecting members of the public with no idea if they have any emotional or psychological problems. And for what? to stick their hand to a table or make them forget their name (if your lucky) You put public venues at great risk of being sued or losing their license. Most of them don't have an entertainment license never mind a hypnotic one. None of you are insured. You head HACKS are the biggest threat to hypnosis in this country ever. About a million times worse than the ****ty pub hypnotists that came and screwed it up the first time. However if you are going to run your course make sure its not on a school day or half your market will not be available. And before you go talking ****e about a course we are still waiting for this explanation of what it is you actually do that's so wonderful? Or a video? Surely its got to be better than the crap head HACKS usually do? And man you also "fix" people afterwards. You need to go on some serious hypnosis courses Bobser. Mickey Mouse ones don't cut it. You also need to take a look at the home office guidelines. You guys are so ****ed up.. And you know its goimng to get worse before somebody really hurts somebody. |

You can't fail if its not going anywhere? Remember a head HACK will get an orgasm ever time somebody slumps forward and closes their eyes. They think that's hypnosis. And on a good night they might even get someone to hand them their coat or wallet.
Still waiting for the videos. |

I was just curious as to if this was the claim you meant to make or if you were winding up punisher.
