Just wondering if anyone had any information on this illusion. I am seriously interested in investing in this illusion but I don't really know much about aquiring it. I know that it's not an easy illusion to obtain as the performance rights need to be paid to Andre Kole and whatnot. But, I understand that.
What I'm really wondering is, is there an authorized builder of this illusion? That, or can plans be obtained through Andre Kole to build one myself? Sorry for my ignorance - I love the illusion but I really don't know how to go about obtaining it. Any information regarding this illusion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Bill Smith built Kirby Van Burch's. I would start with him.

As of this posting (July 22, 2003) there is a discussion of No Feet over on Genii Forum that you might want to take a look at :

Nope, this is something completely different. The basic effect goes like this: The performer steps into a rectangular box with no top and no bottom. The box goes up to about the performer's waist. When ready, the box is lifted up and the performer's feet/partially legs are gone! Assistants can wave brooms or whatever underneath to prove that the performer's feet are really gone. Box is lowered back to the ground and the magician's feet are back.
It's a quick illusion, but extremely deceptive, and very different.

Maybe I can help eliminate some confusion here.
The Copperfield version is called Back Cracker. It was invented by Andre Kole. Similar effect to the no feet illusion. However a large barrel is used. David enters the barrel two stagehands lift the barrel up. Head, Legs, and feet complete visible at all times. Then the two stagehands proceed to turn the barrel a complete 360 degree rotation. With his feet and legs staying planted. Think of the old Exorcist movie. It's kind of the same thing. Except the head does not rotate the body does. The No Feet Illusion. You enter in a rectangle box. Two stagehands lift the box up to show your legs and feet are completely gone. I hope this helps establish the difference. Mike |

Hello!!
David Copperfield lifts and holds the barrel by himself, the stagehands just turn him around. Patrick Thomas |

From what I remember, Copperfield's No Feet Illusion was featured outdoors, on the beach.
Instead of a barrel, us just used a towel to hold in front of him, then lifted it up. It is, to me, one fo the most baffling moment in television magic. No, granted, that version couldn't be done live as it is very angley, but it looks superb on video! Jason |

He introduced the barrell (back cracker) in his show in late 2001. It was out of the show by early 2003. Not sure if he was making adjustments to it, or just did not get the reaction he was looking for.

I've seen No Feet performed. I like watching it when music is being played. The magician performs with the music.

Dynamike,
Do you know if Jon Ross is still performing the illusion? I saw him do it at MMD a few years ago & really liked his presentation. |
