Unfortunately, they glossed over the close-up winners a bit in the awards show this year. There was no 2nd or 3rd place. I understand that there was new management this year and spoke to Bob Rossi a bit after the show. He's a great guy, and was very apologetic for the way things turned out. I'm confident that they will change this in years to come. It looks like the Seminar has some great things in store for the future!
The winner of the World Magic Seminar close-up contest was Kevin Viner (me lol). It was a blast, and there were 7 contestants selected from the pool of entrants.
Warmest regards,

Congratulations Kevin! So no one won for 2nd or 3rd place? That makes your win that much more delicious. Wish I could have been there to see the contest!

When the Gold Lion Head award was accompanied by the Silver and Bronze... Second place winner, Fielding West came the following year with his Silver one PAINTED GOLD. Hilarious!

I watched Lady Circle and Romany perform their acts on Youtube. Personally I liked Lady Circle's act better even if she did not place. Both have very polish and good acts. Now I just wonder if they could perform them acts in the REAL WORLD on a 5 by 5 platform palour stage setting for a company banquet at a hotel ballroom and reset them in 10 minutes for back to back shows.

Circe regularly translates to a small stage at Wonderground, and this is not a small room, either... She's a tough act to follow there. |

Hi there,
WMS was great fun and really nice to meet so many new friends. To Dove Boy, I regularly do that act wherever, even in living rooms for posh people in the UK and can re=set in 15 mins, maybe not 10! Plus it can be done surrounded (street performer training!) I've changed and hopefully improved it since the IBM Sept 2010 and due to the fire restrictions put in my usual commerical comedy routine in the middle. I don't think anyone filmed it at WMS and the latest version hasn't been filmed anywhere else so guess I 'll keep working on it and post it when I finally do get it filmed. Circe is fabulous and very inspiring to meet. We both shared the dreams we'd had of performing at Vegas and meeting S & R. Everyone in that competition was amazing and really friendly, and Kline was the stage manager with the mostest. A very good convention, shame I spent so much time in my room rehearsing (panicking) that I missed Jonathan's lecture and Tamariz!

Congratulations to all those who won! And congratulations to all those that competed. It takes a lot of fortitude to perform before your magical peers and a whole lot of stamina and expertise to win, place, or show! Congratulations to all!
