For fans of Nick Trost, Aldo Colombini has put out 3 DVD's, each featuring 10 of Nick Trost's card tricks. I have several Trost books, but have to admit the DVDs are a nice and easy way to get some great card tricks (esepcially after a long day at work!). I've spent time with the first 2 DVDs and have been enjoying them quite a bit. It is amazing how Nick Trost was able to make some real magic with very minimal, or sometimes no sleights at all. A number of them can help you lead into another card effect too.
Vol 1 favorites are : Ace Stop and 10 In A Row Double Coincidence Vol 2 favorites are Puzzling Assembly, Predicting Red, Black and Courts, and The Lucky Royal Flush. All these have a very good visual impact, most are very easy to do, and some require a bit of set up beforehand. I think these make great material for beginners and others who are looking for card magic that doesn't require "knuckle-busting" moves. Perhaps if these sell well enough, Aldo may be persuaded to produce more. These can be found at http://www.wildcolombini.com |

I thought Volume 1 and 3 were the strongest. You'll have no problem finding 2 or 3 tricks on any of these volumes.

Roger, I heard about it a couple of weeks ago. I think they will still sell things over their website, and have heard they will only do LARGE conventions going forward, but we'll have to wait and see. Here is a link to their site that hopefully will tell us more soon. There's nothing on it yet, except that details are to follow.

Cheers Mark. I'll keep a look out. Am on iPod at the moment and the flash player won't work. Does anyone know where he'll take up residence?

From what I've been told, it didn't sound like they were moving. The do intend to cut back quite a bit if not entirely from lengthy tours and focus on developing and selling magic (DVDs, tricks, books). Of course this may have changed since the last time I heard from them (about a month ago).

This is a great set of dvd's 30 awesome tricks. Very easy & extremely effective! I use @ least 3/4 tricks per dvd. I will always get an Aldo dvd 1st it is very cheap they deliver it fast it comes with ebook of choice I think it is the best thing to purchase for the price & best of all them amazing tricks! I thank you Aldo for NOT ripping the Art & the followers. Lots of magic dvd's have like 4/5 tricks or even 1 or 2 & sell for $30/45...Kinda laim I would rather spend my 40 on Aldo dvd's & get 4 dvd's with 40 tricks now tell me is that weird? all the new magicians are out trying to sell tricks they learned as a child but never want to give the REAL creator his credit...Well I have to say to the people that are in it for the dvd sales GET OVER IT! wake up & smell reality you bite others talents call it your own & look like a jerk, As talent like Aldo love to share who invented it & if you ever get a chance to meet him he is one that will show you the effect not give you attitude & arrogance,Keep your crap away from this art you are the reason why I wont even spend a dime on your dvd I would rather pick up a fashion magazine then support laim talent!

I just received the 4 volumes of this yesterday. Pretty nice deal for $40 and they give you a free e book for each item you purchase. I love Nick Trost' effects, 8 Card Brainwave was one of the first I had ever seen of Trost' and I still love pulling it out on new victims. I have not viewed all 4 volumes but I can tell you that Ace Stop and Ambitious Deuce Sandwich and Royal Rendezvous are on vol 1. Those are what I worked on last night. Not to give anything away, but while he gives some performance hints in the secrets that make the trick work, he doesn't teach double lift or triple lift in any serious detail. I like that, since I already have books and a few DVD's that have broken that down in detail... it makes the pace move along quickly. Some nice
things to add to my "bag o tricks". Mike Malone |

I've asked this question on another forum, but no answer, so I'm trying here.
I recently bought the Aldo on Trost DVDs from, as far as I'm aware, a reputable UK magic company - which I'll not name at this time. My only concern is that the DVDs themselves are unlabelled, nothing printed on them at all, which is kind of strange for genuine copies. So, does anyone know whether they're selling pirated copies, or do discs from Aldo come in this way? tx |

I have some DVD's by Aldo and they are just plain white. Nothing printed on it.
