This still strikes me as such a good test, especially when dressed up by Xpert or Luke Jermay's Cold Emotion (Alternative Handling).
But even if you are not familiar with these two routines (shame on you!), but do know the one ahead test, then read on... It has always troubled me that to ask the spectator to announce the thought/name/number/amount/etc directly after you have written it (and sealed it) is leading them the wrong way/towards method. (Intentionally somewhat cryptic, but you know what I mean.) And I'm sure the solution I thought up last night must be so obvious others are using it too. But here goes anyway: A reason to ask the spectator to name said thought/etc AFTER you have written it (and before you show it in this type of test), is simply to have another spectator (or your lovely assistant should you have one) write it down too to ensure that it is 'remembered accurately' later, when all 3 revelations are made. So in essence it becomes a "what was the first thought/etc?, lets take a look, and now here is my divination of that thought." Excuse the somewhat cryptic nature, but those that know hopefully will understand what I'm trying to say. This kind of test has always been good for impromptu too, but lacked the subtle misdirection of having the thoughts/etc written down by an independent spectator for comparison at the end of the effect. Does anyone have some thoughts on this, or maybe have read this approach elsewhere? Jo |

Take a look at the effect "MARKER EPIC".
- The magician writes his predictions with the same markers the spectators use. - Has the same effect as Mental Epic, but requires no complicated apparatus. |
