All joking aside, John Calvert will be celebrating his 100th birthday at the Abbott's Magic Get Together on August 5th. I'm not exactly sure what they have in store but, I think that's pretty cool.

I'll be celebrating my 45th this summer .. another milestone. Hope to see you there!

I saw John Calvert perform at the SAM convention in 1981 (slightly before I was born according to my INTERNET AGE)..

and he was a TRUE professional. Did one of the most memorable sprit cabinets I've seen.. and did a floating organ that was a mechanical marvel.. floated QUITE far downstage.. I can't imagine how much counterweight that thing must have had on it.

Dad just turned 85 (on the 31st) and celebrating his 70th year in magic.

70 years ago Blackstone, Sr saved him from a life of being
a lousy bus boy and then went on to work with Dante for 3
seasons before setting off on his own.

I might be in Colon this summer, doing a lecture on him...
we'll see how things turn out.

It's just one more reason to take the journey out to the little town of Colon, Michigan. Once you give it a try .. you'll return again and again. I've been there every summer for over 25 years!
