Guys someone emailed me this vid.It a documentary film about an arm wristling guy.Hes stops in NYC and goes to some kind of event in Time Square and sees a "magic mouse pitchman" on a street cornor.The pitch is at 14 on the vid.I wish they filmed more of it but its only a few seconds.The pitchman is AMAZING.

If you look good at one point the mouse seems to "jump" up his arm like its on a rubber band.I have never seen a mouse pitch this good.He takes it to a different level.I have no idea who he is but I'm sending this vid to old friends that might have an idea who it is.

I'll be quite interested to see, because I always felt that the worm was superior to the mouse, both in terms of possible effects and appeal to the marks.

Worm is much nicer and he'd probably agree. But he sells the mouse for only a buck. Probably pays .05 to .10 cents a piece tops. I think most people buy them for the curiosity factor alone. Similar to Doug Quigley's Merman. It's worth a buck just to satisfy the curiosity. I wouldn't be surprised if his disheveled appearance and pitching from the gutter wasn't part of the act too. The mouse suits him perfect. I'd give him a buck out of sympathy alone, the mouse is a bonus. Just my guess.

I still believe in the dirty dollar.

I talked to a good friend in New York City that kind of knew this guy.Looking like a bum wasn't part of the act.He was just really cheap.He got a nice disability check every month from uncle sam and pitched on the streets to make extra money under the table.He had pitched other things including the dancing dolls but once he found the mouse he stayed to that.My friend said he would bring a sanswich wrapped in used paper just to save money...hahaha.I guess it takes all kind and they might all live in NYC.He hasn't been seen in a few years now,so if you have some cloths with holes and don't shower for a few days there is a spot open...and don't forget to bring a sanswich wrapped in used paper .

I recently did a business expo at a 4H fair. I was one booth among over twenty, and I performed slight of hand for school days straight. . I of course had to draw attention of the passing crowds to my booth, so I used Eisenhaur silver dollars and a coins across routine. Worked pretty good. But it occurred to me that I could have even better drawing power with a pitchman's mouse and I think next year I will do that. That is, if I can get my hands on one!

8 bucks for mice is definitely a high price for pitching....

I understood he was just looking for a wonder mouse to draw attenrion and not pitch'em.. if that's the case $8 isn't much of a price..

No doubt he is a great pitchman (not grafter) in his own right...

But he is a low pitchmen... North Americans are commonly known to work on high platforms... they are known as high pitchmen... and use mics there for building large tips and making huge turns....

The North American method is far greater...!

I myself am a low pitchman working towards building an elevated joint...

I've even heard ghost stories of pitchmen building tips of 100+ marks and turning about half of them or more... and as you and I know that once a few start pulling out their cash, they all soon follow...

Even your boy Joe Stuthard was a North American pitchman which later worked Europe and Aistrailia....

You can even find traces of him in Billboard Magazine....

Yes, that's right... and Canada is in North America so that makes him a North American pitchman....

And many don't know this but there were also Svengali PITCHMEN in Mexico... which is also in North America... (these were local Mexican native pitchmen that were possibly influenced by pitchmen that travelled there from the USA and Canada as the cards were also named "Las Cartas Svengali")

Those guys over there pitched some really larry decks at carnivals and festivals...

They were made of cheap paper card stock... and when I say paper, I really mean it! No plastic coating or anything...!

The cheapest of Chinese decks were professional decks compared to those...

They were Spanish style decks (with faces of Kings and Queens with swords, horsemen etc..) but were printed there in Mexico from really cheap paper stock...

Some pitchmen made their own from regular decks while others purchased from a wholesaler in Mexico City...

That wholesaler might still be standing but don't know...

I'm still trying to find one of those decks for my collection....
(Yes, I'm a collector of pitched slum magic tricks..)

If I get the chance I'll post a pic of a deck I personally made using Spanish Cards... but these are plastic coated for longer lasting not like the originals in Mexico...

It's interesting hearing the talk of grafting inside department stores, I've only ever tried working Svengali's on the street (hard as anything) and at car boot sales (better, but very varied). How did you go about making the deal with the store? Do you work the 'I'll entertain your customers for free' angle, or do they ask for a percentage of your take?
