You know Critter, either you and I are thinking of two difference Louis Cyr or Louis Cyr is known for two different things. Based on your excellent clues I'd say your guy is a strong man cuz they toss kegs and pull freight trains, as seen on ESPN2. I was thinking of a mentalist by that name.

Strongman is correct. A national hero in Canada. Billed as the strongest man alive in his day. Could lift a beer keg with one hand gripping only the rim. Pulled a freight car uphill. Still has unbroken records.

Karch was a champion volleyball player from UCLA. I met him at an airport once. Nice guy, and a phenomenal player. I believe he won Olympic gold, dominated the indoor (gym) game, then played pro beach for a while, and did very well there, also (most seem to excel at one version or the other).

Gotta be a lawyer, no one but lawyers would be named Winfield.

There was a Winfield Scott back in the Mexican American War. Winfield...was that draculas sidekick or Reinfield? Either way both he and Dracula were lawyers....there is a Winfield Blvd in San Jose that runs behind Oakridge Mall....

Lobo, you met him? I got him to sign something after a tournament, but that was it. I was way into volleyball, and he was the Jordan of volleyball(or Jordan is the Kiraly of basketball). Karch won two indoor, two beach gold medals for the US-voted twice (3 times?) the worlds best player by the FIVB, international volleyball association. Most wins on the beach ever, I think.
Dave Winfield played baseball...

I met that Tony Hawk the skater when he was on a tour with his team and he was a teen, at the airport. I, being drunk and oblivious to skateboarding, suggested he quit because working at McDonalds would give him more practical experience than skateboarding, which would never make him a dime.
He told me how they have sponsers basically took off with his pals...he should have listened to me, I bet he can't even cook his own hamburger today. Dave Winfield! Okay, Hancock...there is Jim Hancock who worked for me and didn't do a good job. There was the movie Hancock, the guy who signed the Dec of Independence, and some civil war guy I can't recall, and the insurance company. Okay, my official guess is that Winfield Hancock is a kid who got beat up a lot in school just because of his name. |
