Denver Pyle was an actor. The main role he played that comes to mind for me is Uncle Jesse on the Dukes of Hazzard.

He was the guy who reached over the fence and caught or touched a ball as it was inches from being caught during a very close Cubs game and Bartman got credit for the Cubs not going to the World Series. He had to be escorted out by security, had police protection at his house, and was offered asylum in Florida. The ball was later blown up. That Bartman was very much at threat due to sticking his hand out and as long as there are shows about sports screw ups there will be a video of Steve Bartman, the man who destroyed the Cubbies.
If anyone gets this I'll be amazed. Scott Halpin Hints: 1) a movie was based on this event. 2) my brother was present and witnessed said event along w/ several thousand others. |

That is a great one. Prepare to be amazed.
He sat in for Keith Moon for a couple songs at a show The Who were doing at the Cow Palace in S.F. in '73. Keith passed out after too many horse tranquilizers and booze and Pete Townshend asked the crowd if anybody could play the drums...good. I actually have a bootleg of that concert. What movie was based on that? William Hung |

Very good! The movie Rock Star was based on the fact a major band pulled a guy from the audience.
William Hung bought a plant as a gift at the Home Depot in Morgan Hill, Ca....and all my gay friends working there were excited. He was a massive failure at the American Idol tryouts in San Francisco singing some Ricky Martin Song Latoya London (hint: her brother is a good friend of mine and she has a great @#@#) |

That's a great one, but I have to protest the movie reference - Rock Star was based on Ripper Owens, who (like Mark Wahlberg in the movie) came not out of a crowd, but from a tribute band to join the actual band he was 'tributing' (Judas Priest).

Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley. "...as we reason and love, we are able to hope. And hope enables us to resist those things that would enslave us." |

Lying arse DJs! Now it seems common to have a band pick a replacement out of youtube.... Oh shoot, I saw Ripper Owens on TV! I didn't know he was w/ Priest.
Here is a Priest, maybe, story. There was a letter to Penthouse Forum in 80 or 81. The letter was from a guy in a Brit heavy metal band that was hitting in the US. Other than his story that involved a teen gal he met at McDonalds he mentioned that the guitar player had dated the sister of the lead singer and that the singer was the girls first target but he was secretly gay...everything pointed to Judas Priest being the band. |

Penthouse Forum letters as historical documents? I don't think so. Probably all written by English Lit. grad student interns.
