Okay, perhaps you might remember the name of a woman associated with him--Jennifer Levin.

New Yorkers, where are you on this? Taking a walk in Central Park?

Maybe this one was too local.
Robert Chambers was known as the "Preppie Killer." A graduate of some fancy prep schools, he took home 18 year old Jennifer Levin from a high class bar in 1986. She was found strangled in Central Park the next day, covered with bruises and cuts. After he was ID'd as the guy who took her from the bar, he claimed they went to Central Park and she demanded "rough sex." He then claimed she was hurting him, and he pushed her away and she fell and died. Chambers served 15 years and was released in 2003. In 2008 he was arrested for selling cocaine out of his posh apartment in Manhattan. He received a sentence of 19 years. According to papers filed by his lawyer, it came out that Chambers had been using 10-12 bags of heroin a day since he was 14. Before the murder, Chambers was once given a summons on a disorderly conduct charge for being drunk in public. As the cops left, he tore up the summons and shouted, "You F'n cowards, you should stick to n****rs!" But my favorite Chambers story is in 1988 when he was out on bail, the tabloid television program A Current Affair broadcast a home video showing Chambers at a party playing with four lingerie-clad girls, choking himself with his hands while making loud gagging noises, and twisting a Barbie doll's head off, saying in falsetto: "My name is…Oops! I think I killed it." Nice guy. Next up: Tim Berners-Lee

Ohhh. I was thinking "Yuppie Killer". I googled Chambers afterwards. He was sentanced to 5-15 years. Ended up serving full 15 years because of drug violations in jail and attacking an officer. Finally hot out and has been arrested several times again: mainly drugs. He moved in with one of the girls from the Barbie video. Swell guy.

I don't believe so. I could be wrong, but I'd be very surprised.

Nope... He's a guy your neck of the woods who for a while was reminding people of a much more famous guy from your neck of the woods. They had the same employer.
