I was at a panto this afternoon and it was excellent entertainment. But they had a bit that was really neat.
One character was dividing 28 onion rings among four people, so everyone got thirteen. She justified it by division, multiplication and addition, and it was hilarious. It is a lovely bit of business that I will be modifying for my show, but I am just curious; has anyone ever encountered something like this? I would love to know any history of this funny bit.

Some of the old comedy teams used to use "math routines". I have always loved the "drama"!

You can find this routine in the book "Clown Act Omnibus".

Hillbillie Math. With 25 being divided 5 times to get equal parts of 14. It is classic.
Thanks for the laughs DeWayne. Patrick |

DeWayne, thanks for the great insight into it. Very entertaining. It may be plagerism but it is going into my act.

Interesting idea, to use an overhead projector instead of a chalkboard...

Oh yea Joe Kemple is from Bethlehem, Pa., but I'm not exactly sure of the correct spelling of his mane either.
