Hi Guys,
I've created a little no-sleight packet trick for myself. All cards are examinable (by laymen) at the end. The method is certainly well known, and the plot is based on vague memories of other plots I've seen or read. My question is, is it anything that is interesting enough/different enough to be worth thinking about releasing? Or should I just keep it as my own thing? Its a multiplying card effect. I did a quick look/search and didn't see a lot of them currently out but I know there have been an number in the past... If you'ld care to take a look and give me an opinion, the performance video is here... http://gallery.me.com/jeffpk#100024

I should add that the angle isn't perfect. I didn't have a camera man unfortunately so its not always clear to see whats going on. Just trust me that it all looks perfectly clean close up.

Good one. Next time, cover your black art table so the wells don't show. That's my only criticism. The trick is great!

Man that is a really cool idea! Really great ending, like Failed Magician said, it gives a reason to the story. Different presentational ideas to play around with.

Really nice. You know what I liked about it most? Your very engaging, easy-going, natural patter. It was a pleasure to listen to you tell the story, just as if you were talking to a friend.
A lot of people 'sound' as if they are giving a presentation - too formal - when they should be just telling a story. The trick was good, too, and can be adapted to many different types of situations, using both blank, standard, or other special cards.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Much better, although I can still see a "space warp" in the table cloth, I'm sure no one else will notice it. If you're going to video it again, a piece of cardboard beneath the cloth would help. However, the design of the table cloth is the key to keeping your hands in sight. Just make sure your hands never go back beyond the third line of squares and they will be always in the video frame. Also, a tiny red dot on the back left side of each of the lettered cards will help you know "which way is up" when you turn them over. It's still a good trick and worth doing over one more time.

Thanks Spell
I actually DO have a little black dot on the back of the word cards for just that reason, as per an earlier suggestion. I just slightly goofed the one turn over. If you think it detracts I can do it again... JK

Cute effect, I think it's the ending that makes it good. Certainly worth recording in print somewhere, in a collection of effects or as a magazine or book contribution.

It would make a good addition to The Wizards' Journal... hint, hint! That is, if you don't mind selling it for $5.00 a pop instead of giving it away free in some prestigious print magazine.

I like the effect very much. Thanks for sharing.
I would do this effect with two alterations. 1. Instead of A to 4 of Spades, I would use 4 Aces. 2. I would show the face of the card before throw it away. Hideo Kato P.S. Sam Berland had a wonderful 'Six Card Repeat' using gaf cards to show multiple cards as one card. The method is different from Cybergat's method, but the principle is similar. Berland version is being described by Martin Lewis in "The Classic Six Card Repeat" published by Twin Cities Magic & Costume Co. |
