Hi,
I've just got a new website done to promote the kid's party side of my business. I thought I'd post it here to see what you all think! http://www.mrphilparties.co.uk Feel free to be honest. I'm not sure all the humour will work with everyone here, but I thought I'd try to make it a bit different. Cheers, Phil Blackmore |

To many words on home page. Just make the home page big like the 100% Guarantee words. Then put a click here to find out more on another page. A picture of you with the some kids on the home page would be good also.
Looks like the fun attutide you wanted to project, nice beginning. If you notice, I did not click further as there was nothing to draw me to do so. |

I think you need a name or initials under each quote. Indent and use quote marks. Did you try moving you pic to the right or flipping it horizontal? just asking.

I think it is looking great. BTW, you want to have a good amount of copy on the home page for SEO reasons. Your home page should have 500 words @ least. Here is a screen shot from a seo report from one of my sites telling me to increase the word count. I loved your download section and thought your invitation was great. Lots of good information and looks like fun.
I think anyone who visited your site would have clicked around on most of the pages. I believe you will always tweak your site and change copy until you find what works best for your market. Great job. Click here to view attached image. |

It reads you are the best juggler in the world. "The proof is in the pudding."
1. Show videos you are the best juggler in the world. 2. Show pictures of you keeping the kids happy with your entertainment at a party. |

I LOVE your activity sheet. Do you ever provide them to clients, or is it only available as a download?

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. I plan on getting the activity sheet printed with a colouring sheet on the other side to give to every kid. I'm glad you like it, my website designer did it all, I'll tell him it's popular! (apart from the cartoon which was Angie Jordan). Jonathan, I tried to get a few keywords in the front page text, but mostly to make the text interesting and fun. Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you think I'm doings things right. Dynamike, I think you missed the joke. You need to read the small print. Is it too subtle or not funny? I'd like to get a video done, that's one of the next things on the list. All my footage currently is of my other show, extreme juggling with chainsaws etc so not really suitable for this website! Cheers, Phil |

Hi Phil,
Pros are great content and photos. Cons are it's coded in tables, looks like a template and the text graphics are pixelated. Personally I think it looks amateurish but maybe that's the appeal of the site? Pm me if you would like more info. Cheers, Ade |

Thanks Ade,
I have to admit after looking at your sites they look very impressive and I can see your point. I'm glad you like the content on mine at least |

I like the guarantee. It's clever. I think the clever headlines at the bottom of each page ("World's Greatest Children's Entertainer", "World's Greatest Juggler", "World's Bestest Kids Entertainer in the Whole Universe") are just fine.
My main advice would be to spread the testimonials (quotes) apart a bit, so they aren't in a tight block. Use some spacing. Also, use genuine testimonials, not gag ones. Also, when you can, add a video and some photos of you interacting with an audience. Also, you should try to put one of your BGT clips online. Other than that, you have all of the key elements of a successful birthday show business website. Have you thought about having a headline on each page, or giving them some indication as to what page they are on? - Donald P.S. You have a bad link to Invitations on your Party Tips Page.

Cheers Donald.
I'll definitely get a video and actions photos when I can, and thanks for the headline advice and the bad link. The problem with the bgt video is that I was doing "dangerous" juggling with knives and axes etc and wouldn't want parents to think I do that type of material at parties. However I felt it was worth mentioning that I was on the show. Ta, Phil |

I agree with the others...overall you've a great site. Ditto on the comments about adding the pics and video with kids. Now drive massive traffic to the site. I wish you the best.

The site is really REALLY good. I think the concept of invitations is brilliant. Great marketing.
I would think you a juggler and a balloon artist. Perhaps there needs to be a shot of you doing something magical: suspiciously contemplating a bunny perhaps? The yellow is a great choice because it bristles with energy. Great work, Phil. David

I know this was ages ago, but I've just noticed I never said thank you for the help and kind comments, so thank you!
The business is building slowly and the enquiries and bookings are coming in. I've learnt a lot about marketing doing this. Almost all my previous work was through agents. I'm still trying to get to grips with it all. I've just been given a voucher from google for adwords and so I'm learning how to do that at present, which is teaching me more about keywords and SEO. The magic Café has been really useful. There is lots of great information here! Thanks again, Phil http://www.mrphilparties.co.uk |

You are right, it's a difficult balance. I'm looking into repeating the keywords more in the text. The more I say children's entertainer or children's party the better the SEO will be, but if I do it too much it makes it read badly and could easily be annoying for a potential booker.
