Hello fellow Magicians! As some of you know I am a Magic creator as well as a filmmaker. My last film "Stricken" was just picked up by (Warner Bros. VOD branch Gravitas) and I am now working toward the next big movie which has been a dream of mine for a while and is called "Magic".

Wayne Houchin and Dexter Morgan are already part of the movie and some huge A-list actors will be brought in soon. The movie is about magic and will be shot in 3D and targeted for theatrical release. To see more about it, go to http://www.magic-the-movie.com You can watch the teaser there, check out pictures and bios of the AMAZING crew we already have involved and see updates. I will also update this thread to keep you in the loop. All illusions performed in the movie will be done with no visual effects and will be able to be performed live at press events and premieres. Some of mine are in there and I know some other Magicians have become part of that process as well.

SYNOPSIS:
A detective JOHN Michael loses his daughter in a tragic bus accident. Two years later, an orphan girl of the same age appears, claiming to possess supernatural powers. As the world rallies to her call to believe nothing is impossible, John must discover the truth about her, his daughter, and the power of belief itself.

TEASER TRAILER:

Youtube link:

or on the website in an HD file.

This should be a big publicity boost for all things magic and will be the first movie about Magic shot in 3D. Magic tricks in 3D look pretty awesome! Best wishes, Matt Sconce

Won't this title be confused with the 1978 movie called Magic, a horror movie. Actors Anthony Hopkins and Ann Margaret.

Thanks guys! Movies share the same name many many times. The key is to get name clearance for the year you release the film. When some new updates come in I will get you the scoop!

Thanks guys! We are moving ahead each day. The script has been in the hands of Ed Harris and Kim Coates and will be making its way to more big names soon. The budget is almost finalized and then we start moving quickly.

I want to know what 3D camera is being used to film this?

Those things are very expensive, not to mention production costs.
It's basically like filming the thing twice... when it comes to money.

This is why a lot of film makers just do the realD conversion from 2D to 3D.

It is much more expensive and less effective to convert 2d to 3d. Much better to save the post cost by shooting 3d which also gives the 2d copy. We are shooting Red Epics on Kerner Beam splitter rigs. Including the cameras, each rig is 550k. Our feature has a large enough budget to command a list talent. This should be great!

Hey, I just finished shooting a short film called Disillusioned which shows some promise and is all about magic. Editing should finish in May or June so I will know soon if I really want to brag about being a part of it or not. It iwill be submitted to film festivals and the hope is for it to be featured. If it flies or doesn't, it was a fun project with a positive message and I'm honored to be a part of it.

Well... I guess it would depend on what you are using to film.
But most of the time shooting in 2D and converting it to 3D is WAY less expensive.
This is why a lot of movies are shot this way.
ie.. Clash of the titans, Alice in Wonderland, The Last Airbender, etc

With real 3D, the cameras, the film, the production crew, the production needs cost a lot more than regular 2D filming.

This is the whole debate that's going on right now.
Movie makers are filming in 2D, converting it to 3D, and then charging an extra $5 to go see something that doesn't even look that good.

I will not Argue this anymore after this because this argument is not what this thread is about, but in a recent meeting with Pixar, Disney, Fotokem, Kerner, and ILM, I was told point blank that filming in 3D is much less expensive and much more effective than going from 2D to 3D. The time and post production costs needed for the 2D to 3D conversion to be done correctly is significant. Clash of the titans used a horrible one size fits all black box method which people rejected and hated. Harry Potter scrapped it's 3D for the last release because it would take too long and not be ready in time due to post costs and budgets. Shooting 3D adds 30% to your budget but saves the money you would have to spend in post to "Fake it". I think the leading 3D gurus of the industry that I met with probably know what they are talking about, and it is true what you said that this may apply more to digital.

Anyway, back to Magic. Our budget is almost done.
On another front, my film "Stricken" releases on 15 million televisions Tuesday! Check out its website for more info on where you can watch it.

I just heard Stricken is now live all over except on Verizon FiOS where it will hit on the 11th. (We made this movie with the money in our pockets, 3 of us on set, and many friends that had the passion to come on board.) We were told many times we were insane and would fail but now Stricken is seeing the light of day and our dreams are becoming reality.

Click on the release announcement at the Stricken site to see the providers showing it on 15 million tv's. It is up to us to get people watching it for these 90 days to get it to the next phase where it will then be advertised by Gravitas and shown on 35 million televisions. Please watch, share and breath Stricken for the next 90 days! http://www.strickenthemovie.com Best wishes and thank you for your support! -Matt Sconce

Places it releases in its first release for 90 days:Charter,Verizon FiOS, AT&T U-Verse,Rogers (Canada),Dish VOD,Mediacom,Suddenlink,RCN,

Congrats Matt. We look forward to seeing it.

I want to also confirm what Matt is saying about shooting in 3D versus doing it in post. We shoot with a self contained body worn or vehicle mounted HD camera for some of Kristen's stunts, our High Fall Stunt Show, our motorcycle adventures, etc. They just came out with a 3D rig. It simply is just another camera and the lenses of the two cameras are mounted roughly 1" apart. It comes with the software to 'marry' them together and creates great looking 3D with incredible depth. The lens to begin with is a very wide angle with 170 degree of vision. So now there is a very good 3D rig that shoots in HD for literally less than $1000.

Went to site with my Mac, all links are dead-no response?
Nothing is truer than the incomprehensible, because the sum total of our knowledge consists of the fact that we know nothing. Our reality is an illusion. Thus illusion is reality-Punx

Which site? Mac's seem to have trouble in the last month jumping from a godaddy hosted site to a flash based website. Both are in use at http://www.magic-the-movie.com
Try bypassing godaddy by going here: http://www.magic-the-movie.moonfruit.com
