I am using Microsoft Publishing 2007 to print my labels so I can stick them to my brochures. The template shows me one label to print on. The sheets of Avery paper has 14 labels. When I preview the full sheet it shows the one address on all 14 labels. How can I type a different address on each of the 14 labels instead of the same address on all 14 labels?

Hi Mike,
I haven't used Microsoft Publisher, but I have printed various Avery labels using Microsoft Word. Word has templates available for almost all varieties of Avery Labels - in my experience these have always worked. Good Luck. Tony |

Yea, I know there is a way it can be done. I just want to know if anyone knows the procedure to printing a different address on each label. Thanks.

Use the Mail Merge Wizard function under TOOLS, Mike. You'll need to create a mailing list in Excel, save it, then connect and merge your Publisher file to the Excel sheet. The Merge Wizard walks you through the steps.
This will let you design a label in Publisher and merge different addresses to each label. It sounds like you're using an Avery 5162 Label. Choose that label under File>Page Setup. It will automatically adjust for the 14-label sheet. If your label size is listed under File>Page Setup in Publisher, you'll need to manually adjust that, as well (I find that easier than digging around the Internet for a template.) The label margins are usually included on an info sheet included with the labels. Let me know if I can answer any specific questions for ya. It CAN be a bit confusing at first.

Avery makes templates for Word and Publisher and they are free on the Avery site.
Alternative to using Publisher is to use the free Avery program "Design Pro" Limited Edition. It is a very complete free design program. Not much of a learning Curve. This program lets you print all same, import mailing lists or even create full mailing list within the program. With Publisher, Mail Merge is your answer as Skip Way points out. |

The label is 5962. But it reads use template 5162. I will keep playing with it to see what comes up. Thanks.

You will find Avery discontinues their labels all the time. Then puts out the same label with a different number. No idea why. I have found the template is just the size and spacing of the label. If the size of the label and the spacing matches your label then use the template. It will work okay. If they say that label 5962 is not compatible with label 5162, then use it. It has nothing to do with the final print job or how the ink goes on the label. That is the job of your printer and it's software.
I am speaking from experience as I tend to buy to many labels and keep them a long time. |
