In the book Roger's Thesaurus, Roger Crosthwaite said that Hoyles were his card of choice.

If you have the "Secrets Of Brother John Hamman" book, Kaufman's illustrations show Hoyle cards. I suppose Hamman used them back in the day ('80s).

I have used them before and found them to handle nicely.

I have never felt a deck of Hoyle or "Hoyle" (USPC) decks that I have liked or handled well.
I like cards.

Aviators are better than Hoyle's I know years ago guys like Allan Ackerman, Paul Harris, Michael Skinner. and many others wouldn't even look at a deck of Hoyles. Aviators they would if they didn't have a choice. But Bicycle decks or Tally HO's where the cards of choice.

I'm still confused guvnor!

In what way are Aviators comparable to Hoyle Shellback........other than the fact that there are 52 cards, a couple of Jokers and they both come in a box?

The stock and finish are similar. My opinion of course but then you know what they say about opinions.
