The only one I worried about was the murderer, he spent 35 years in prison. He was too busy impressing the young guys as a real hoodlum. I admit I couldn't sleep at all, was wide awake when they turned on the lights. I did sleep for a couple hours later.

This wasn't really a time serving issue the reason I sat in jail was the town court meets twice a week. They figured tossing me in cost more than the ticket cost.

There are murderers out there and the government is wasting their time and our tax dollars on stuff like this.
This really stinks!

You're out, you're safe, you've got a story or six....you can deal with all the rest.
Go walk in and out of your front door a couple times, then repeat slowly..."Life is good!" ...but I presume you've already done that...

When the deputy was walking me out I tearfully said "Hold up, it's hard...hard to face freedom after being locked down for almost 24 hours". Finally got a laugh out of a guard. My main point was no officer, and this in a county considered very bad, was rough or threatening to me. They didn't cuff me tightly and didn't over do the search.

I bribed the cop with the biggest hands I could find in your area to do a full body and cavity search - your cops just can't be trusted - you obviously were not intimidated and degraded to the degree I paid for.

Actually no, I consider jail and prison for two types, those who are a threat to the community and those that continue w/ being a problem to the community. As a person w/ nothing on his record and being 'wanted' for a non moving violation they would be better served by giving me a court date and moving on. What happened was they had to drive me 45 miles to a jail, process me, cloth me, feed me, provide space, all that good stuff for two days so that they could get someone to say "here is a court date". Tada! What bothered me was that these native kids had no highschool diploma and they were not given the chance to study for their GED or get counsuling or anything....and they have been in jail for stupid crap over and over! The one kid told me that I was the first one to seem to understand him and also to tell him point blank that he was a criminal to his community and that he was going to be arrested over and over unless he gave up booze. What he needs is a GED, he needs a job, he needs something to reach for but now this bright kid who was only trying to have fun will spend almost the next year and a half in prison, for getting drunk and doing stupd stuff. I told him that when he gets to prison (he is afraid he will became full of hate there) to sign up for classess and to not get involved w/ the mex-indian gang anymore than he has to and that he had to decide when he got out to be straight or spend the rest of his life jailed. I hope he makes the right choice but prison will not be good for him. They are putting a dopey kid who is at a crossroads in w/ animals rather than a 'camp' job skills and at true option is taught.

Tom, he was from San Jose and worked down the road from where I worked and he was in because his wife said he tried to put a stick up her nose which she retracted and thus his release. I admit after I did it I still thought "oh oh".
Nope, no one intimidated me at all, just kept an eye on the one life criminal. |

Good onya for talkin straight with the kid, sometimes it's just the seed that's planted that may someday make a difference for this lad!

So maybe your stay in jail was worthwhile after all. I think you have real insight into what those kids really need. Unfortunately, I think most people neither understand nor care.

What you gotta' do when you get in there is right off the bat start pointing at yourself and then everyone else while saying:
"I am Santa! I am nobodies !@#$%! You are all my !@#$%es!"

If they made me sleep on the floor I would sue them for cruel and inhumane treatment. What do they think you people are, cattle?
