I´ve had limited success with a few hypnotic phenomenon - magnetic fingers, light and heavy hands test, falling forwards test, managed to stick a girls feet to the ground etc etc (Anyone reading this more than likely knows all the drills) but I had never managed the depth of response that I was aiming for, that is until saturday night.
I got what I consider to be my first all round success - did a few suggestability tests (they didn´t work at all with 4 people and I was thinking it just wouldn´t be my night) then the fifth person went in to trance remarkably easily. I used two elman style deepeners and she went into what appeared to be full blown sonambulism. As I deepened her state I used the words "you go 10 times deeper, 10 times more relaxed, and enjoy the sensation 10 times more" etc etc to make sure she´d like what she was experiencing. I got exactly the results I was after - 1 - made her corpse with laughter every time she saw her boyfriends nose, 2 - she forgot the number four and counted 11 fingers on her hands, then counted 6 fingers on each hand, added them up, she had 12 fingers. (first time round she didn´t lose the number so I did a 3rd deepener and insisted upon the number amnesia) 3 - changed the flavour of her whiskey and lemonade so she thought she was drinking Fanta (orange flavour). I removed all suggestions, told her she´d emerge refreshed and feeling great. For some reason she remembered absolutely nothing when I emerged her. Her friends told her what had happened and she laughed, rather amused. She said that she wasn´t a believer in hypnosis, and had always thought that she would be impossible to hypnotize. I complimented her on her powers of concentration and will be seeing her at some stage again to practice more (have to make the most of a subject like that!). I talked to her again last night and she now remembers counting her fingers, but she still doesn´t remember missing out the number "4". She wants to record a future session on video so she gets to see exactly what happened. A sincere thanks to anyone who has given me tips, advice, or words of encouragement over the past few months.

Hey
That sounds really great. One thing that is smart to do, is that before you emerge them from the trance, you tell them "You will remember everything that have happened in this trance" or something along the lines. This should make your subject remember what had just happened. Looking forward to hear more stories! |

Well done! You've discovered that only 1 in 5 people are somnambulists.

Remember to invite this lady to every show! (Even pay for her taxi!)
Seriously, I'm glad you are making progress: Onward and upward! (Plus along with your success, you have also learnt how to deal with it not going all your way with some people and that is a much harder thing to learn and the greater education) You'll be able to go for larger groups and see the ones with better potential sooner. Well done so far and good luck with the future.

I can't remember where you're based Owen. Is it actually in Seville? The Scots hypno group are having a hypno day this month and all are invited. If you're here great, if you want to fly over we'll put you up somewhere.
We do have to remember our Scottish hospitality. Bob

Aye Bobser, Seville it is.
It´d be a rather long shot, but what date is it and in which city? thanks for the invite by the way. @Shrubsole - I´m hoping she´ll be available this weekend and her boyfriend said he is going to bring some more folks along. It´ll be good for confidence levels knowing that I have a "safe bet" amongst the participants I now have to make sure I have some good routines/skits up my sleeve!
