Hello all. I was thinking. Are there materials other than rubber/latex that "rubber bands" can be made out of for use with flipper coins. Possibly bands that are made out of a materiel that has a much longer life span than that of the common bands we use now. I have a huge issue with the possibility of a band tearing in the middle of a performance. I know that changing the band often is a good idea, but when it comes to the flipper, it is a process I don't want to have to do all the time. I'd rather have a superior band from the beginning. Any tips?

There's a new product recently announced that is supposed to have a new type of band that will last a long time. Unfortunately the name escapes me.
In the meantime, the thread below may be useful. See the posts discussing using more than one "band" cut from a ballon: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=202 |

Double band it. That will help keep it from breaking at an inappropriate moment. Then, depending on use or length of time they've been on your gaff, change them out to keep the bands fresh. Also, store your rubber bands in the refrigerator (crisper drawer) and they will last a LONG time without drying out and rotting on you.

Here is the site with Walking Liberty halves: http://www.jbtvusa.com/latest-j-b-produc......-629.php There are also Flippers with internal bands that are supposed to last longer (Tango makes one, I think). Ask your dentist for some bands. If there is a Sharp edge in the coin that seems to be cutting the bands ,,, use 1000 grit wet/dry sand paper... found at any auto body repair store. Gently slid the paper over the sharp edge a few times... that should do the trick.
