Hello fellow members,

There is a radio show on Saturday's from
10am to 12 noon, with a psychic on 850 am.

Great 2 hours of 'reading' lessons, he does
a good job, and may make you wonder.

The thing is if you don't try to call in,
this is what happens. The screener ask's
for your name, the month you were born,
and your question or problem.

I listen and wonder if the caller will be an
old soul or new soul before the psychic tells
the caller.

But it is a nice way to learn some lingo and
delivery.

Take care

Can you give us the name of the radio station and the exact name of the show. Perhaps they archive old shows on the Web...?

850 am is WAIT in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Their website doesn't list any programming in that time slot on Saturday, so I'm guessing it's a slot they rent out for paid programming. I haven't heard the show being discussed but my bet is that the psychic is Joe Who, who does a lot of self-produced radio in the Chicago area. I haven't been able to find him on the web yet but he's been a pretty popular on-air presence for a long time. He's very good. Certainly worth studying.

Is the show "Live' or is it edited?

As a broadcaster myself--keep in mind that you can still be edited while "live"...that doesn't change anything.

If the show was pre-recorded then huge sections of "misses" could be removed to make things sound much better than they really were, couldn't they? Wouldn't it be harder to do this "live"...? I think some broadcasters use stooges or even themselves as stooges for some of the Florida radio shows. Could this Chicago station be doing the same thing? Just wondering?

Oh my gosh, the real mystery to me is what the heck are you boys doing up at 10 am on a Saturday? I'm usually still hung over from Friday. Wait, I'll let you know for sure in 24 hours.

One way this is accomplished—the show is actually live—is that during music segments/commercials, etc. the calls are taken and recorded...then edited before being put on the air. Therefore, you have recorded/edited bits on a "live" show.

My act that I use in a morning show here in Florida—the calls are not edited—are completely taken live. I give specific information to the caller: the d.j. is shocked, the caller is shocked and the audience is shocked.

WOW Brandon!!!

What station? I'll wake up early if need be. Will you be on again soon? Is your act considered cold reading then?

The first trick you should learn is how never to have hangovers... Making them vanish is much harder then never letting them materialize.

The show is live and they have that couple second delay all stations have that take calls.

It is WAIT am (850), as one pointed out, and yes, it is Joe Who and he is good at what he does.

There is no need to tape. We do them live (with 6 second delay, thank you Janet Jackson) from time to time in Boston, and they go over well. Just a little slow for morning drive time.
