Yesterday was an unusual day. Not only was it the day before Super Bowl, so jillions of people were there instead of being spread out over 2 days but in addition to my strippers, yesterday I sold 21 decks of cards. That is not a lot, but the unusual part, one of the vendor’s kids I sold several shows back (the one who told me he’d earned $500 with the TCM) came over and brought one of his friends. The friend bought a deck.
The same kid came back in a few minute with another friend and I sold him—then another—and another. Altogether, 5 kids bought because of the 1st kid. I’m sure their school is gonna be over-run with ‘magicians’. I wound up giving the 1st kid another set, so it cost me about 80 cents for ‘advertising’. I’ve had kids bring friends over but never 1 guy who brought 5 of them and they ALL bought. Must be my magnetic personality! By the way, the new MM key cards are cut so near the length of the ordinary cards, VERRRY hard to do a DL. Man, if I can do it with THESE cards, I can do it with ANYTHING!! Live and learn. Jon |

And Super Bowl Sunday, when I expected NO ONE at the show, I had a better day than Saturday. Hard to believe but if I hadn't had the cards, I'd have done only half of what I did. Which means, I sold more cards than strippers! I'd never seen SOOO many kids at a gun show. In fact, it was 2 hours before I sold any strippers but the cards FLEW off the table. Kids were everywhere. And they love the cards. I started using David Walker's line: "You use these cards at a party, you'll be the hit of the party...blah blah blah...." I hadn't used it preveiously but it really got a laugh every time I used it.
The fire laws require a 6' aisle but the aisle in front of my card table was blocked almost all day. NO ONE could get past. They HAD to buy. And in spite of the very small difference between the key and ordinary cards, I NEVER missed a DL! That was also a 1st! But the point of this story is the guy in the space next to me. I'd been next to him 2 other shows so in theory, he knew the tricks of the cards. But every time I was about to have the key card go thru the box, he'd get down level with the table to see if it REALLY did. And he wasn't joking. He was as bad as one of the kids. After many of the demos, he'd say, "Lemme look at those cards." Of course, I'd say, "Hey, you buy 'em, you can do anything you want with 'em!", so he never actually got the deck in his hands. In spite of his watching dozens of demos and dozens of 'explanations', I think he REALLY didn't know how they work. Well, if he didn't, he STILL doesn't!:) Jon |

Congrats, Jon -- it sounds like you had one of those days that all the pitchmen dream about!
It's a real gas when your tips start clogging up the aisle. I've had that happen on a couple of occasions, and when it does I always say "Please move in a little closer, so that we don't block the aisle." Sounds like I'm just trying to be helpful, but what actually happens is that the existing tip gets locked in, and the extra room that's made is quickly filled up by other curious rubberneckers, so the aisle gets blocked once again! After the turn, I say "Those of you in the back who didn't have a good chance to see what was happening, please step right up front because we're going to do it all over again." So I get the beginning of my next tip with almost no effort or downtime. SETH
