My daughter is going on a mission trip to Honduras, I have offerd to do a free show to help her & the group raise the funds they need.

My question is this: Is it better to sell tickets or do a free will offering? I would like them to get the most they can from this show. The church will also be selling "goodies" during intermission.

Which is the best way to go?

Thanks for your input.

I've never done this type of show but I have several friends that do. They all say that a set ticket price is the way to go.

IMHO
The best thing to do is sell tickets on the way in, pass the hat on the way out, and be sure to have pretty girls passing the hats.

Have you considered having a BOR?

Definitely great advice. I recently did one of these for my fiance because she's going to New Orleans to build schools. We promoted a ton, had tickets at the door to buy, and then passed the hat at the end. My only regret is not having something to sell also.

Mark,

Not only sell tickets but make ticket sales competitive. (You may even have some success getting some business to buy them and give them away in connection with some other promotion.)

Great advice of doing both. Set the ticket prices for entry, then do a presentation of the mission trip, and ask for further donations as a free will.
