This sounds interesting and has some excellent names attached, but does it really do what the pitch promises? I'm growing more and more cynical. Anybody own it?

Constantly, it has proven true that this forum is stuffed with jerks. "Go to buy an invisible deck." If you're going to be a jerk in English, at least work hard at using the language correctly. To write such blundering really does undercut your cool and gives the impression that you are an ignorant jerk. Now, I'm sure that isn't true. You aren't an ignorant jerk at all. But English is a subtle language. For your own good I would suggest respecting it even if you can't respect other people on the forum. BTW, very likely I was using invisible decks before you were born.

Sandstar
I bought this last week, and while I've not performed it live yet, it's easy to see how good this will play. Yes it does what it says it does. It packs as small as anything you'll find and plays huge. As I try to streamline my mentalism, a lot of gimmicks and gaffs will go to be replaced with simpler (in some cases propless) effects. Mes(s)merize will be staying Steve |

Calme down, Sandstar. I think he was trying to be funny not a jerk. I laughed. And take care over your English for that matter. "To write such blundering really does undercut your cool and gives the impression that you are an ignorant jerk," doesn't read too well does it? I suppose it's because you swore. Will, poor parmenion. He was actually trying to help you.

Yes, poor me
You're right about the ID, I never use it of my "short and miserable jerk" life

Sandstar,
as the "creator" of "Mes(s)merize, I am of course a little biased, but I can assure you it really plays as stated in the ad. This is a principle with lots of applications and I am sure you would find a way to fit to your own act. Best regards Stefan http://www.stefanmagie.de/messmerize.htm |

To Last Laugh. Thanks for that link. I did several searches and could not find anything, that's why I posted. As we all know, the search engine can be a bit of a problem right now. Thanks to those who gave rational responses. That's all I wanted.
To EscapeMaster: "Calme down, Sandstar." There is nothing so excellent as a wise word of advice given at the proper moment. You are absolutely correct. I do need to remain totally and utterly calme. I'm going to work on that. And I do appreciate your critique of my writing. Clearly, you are sophisticated reader. Looking at the thread I do confess to a point of real confusion. Exactly what was it about Parmenion's "position" that Chill was "seconding?" 1)That he is poor? 2)That he never uses ID? 3) That he is living a "short and miserable jerk life?" Or 4) All of the above. And what exactly does "seconding" mean. This is challenging to consider. To the rational: Over the years I've seen too many people attacked on this forum by arrogant jerks who think their semi-literate patronizing sarcasm is endlessly entertaining. And their friends goad on their blather. That hurts this place and because of its influence I think it hurts mentalism. |

Hello there,
only to get back to the topic: I just learned that Jheff did a review of "Mes(s)merize" over at Marketplace of the Mind. http://www.marketplaceofthemind.com/messmerize.html Well, I guess I can live with the statement that the effect might be too powerful for an opener, being the only "negative" comment in the review Best regards Stefan |

Jerk is not a word that is used a lot in the real English language. In West London for example you'll be more likely to hear: 'Tuftytoggle' followed by light giggling.
Jerk CAN be used but mainly by the working classes, whom I talk to frequently as they are as important as we are, I feel. And finally, even if you did use the word Tuftytoggle as opposed to Jerk you would still refrain from using it three times in the one paragraph. It simply reveals what should not be revealed. It's a bit like rolling one's umbrella clockwise as opposed to the Windsorian anti-clockwise and you would not gain entry into any decent gentleman's club on either side of The Thames. twiddlydoo Robert
