What a great opportunity for magicians and other entertainers who can show schools, libraries, and other groups how to raise funds to save programs by putting on shows! Take advantage of it, not only for the groups involved, but for all the collateral damage... I mean collateral business it would bring you from private shows following your big public aid project. Magicians to the rescue!

Spellbinder,
I was looking at this as a negative. I like the way you turned it into a positive. I guess you are right if you approach this in the right way you could make this a positive situation for all.

I learned that trick as a teen from reading Robert Heinlein's 1949 Science Fiction "Red Planet." One of the characters, a wiley young entrepreneur named Smythe says, "There's a brand new business opportunity in each (problem) if only you have the wit to see it."

There's a small book, (about an hours reading), called "Who Moved My Cheese." It deals with handling changes. Well worth reading.

On "Who Moved My Cheese" - It is a fun book and has some
worthwhile points - and it was promoted heavily by the management at my previous company as a way to prepare the troops for what turned out to be fairly painful change. What I found most interesting about that book was the upsells at the end to a series of "Who Moved My Cheese" products - stuffed animals, workbooks, audios, and even seminars. I pointed out to the manager who gave out this book that the real brilliance wasn't in its message, it was in the fact that it was a lead generation tool for a whole series of much more expensive back end products and services. He didn't get it of course....
