Thanks for the research pwolverine!

It shall prove very helpful once I get through to 36 decks coming my way. The shipping is always the killer, amazon won't even ship 808's to Australia. Fortunately my brother was on holidays over in the US and I got three bricks of 12 sent to him from amazon (free shipping) and he shall deliver it to me! Works out at $1.66 a pack.

By the way does the $1.79 a pack include the shipping charge from T11?

Hey Angel.. when you order packs from Theory 11.. as you add more packs the price per pack lowers.. at 12 packs its currently $1.79 last time I was on Theory11's web site.. then shipping on top of that which will vary depending how many packs you order.. it seems to be the cheapest around if you want to order smaller ammounts..

Throughout the U.S. Costco typically sells a dozen bikes for $12.99. HOWEVER, about twice a year they have a $4 discount off that price, so the price is $8.99/dozen, or more specifically, about $0.75 per pack.

It seems to be the best value out there and I will concur with what others have said regarding quality--they don't seem to be appreciably better or worse than bikes purchased from other sources.

When the discount is in effect, I pick up several bricks at a time--at least enough to hold me over until the next discount. Right now, I've got more bricks than I know what to do with.

You should be able to go in and go to the service desk and get a pass to look around. See if they have them. My Costco no longer has Bikes. They haven't had them for at least 6-months. I don't know if they'll ever bring them back. That may be an individual store's choice not to carry them so you really ought to get in there before joining if that is your majore impetus to join.

Thanks for the tip

It wasn't my primary reason for going but would be beneficial if they did still stock them seems to me reading around the various forums that its a bit hit and miss as to whether certain branches stock them

It would be good to know first - I think the membership card for Costco is about £30? If they consistantly had bricks of bikes for £12 it would pay for itself after a while.

Maybe I can also throw me experience in as I am the Producer of the Phoenix Deck. The Phoenix Deck - Master Edition - is a high class Deck best comparable with the Gold Seal Bicycle in quality, it is also produced by USPCC on Bicycle stock, but in Quality Level 1 (Bicycle Decks: Quality Level 3). It is the only FISM recognised deck in the world. (Enough advertising...)
Not everyone lives in the USA or in England, having Costco nearby.

I can tell you (as I am dealing with USPCC on a regular base) that Costco gets the decks for a cheaper price than the manufacturing price. USPCC loses money on every deck sold throug Costco. I could produce zillions of Phoenix Decks at USPCC, I would never get the price that Costco is selling you the decks. As USPCC is owned by Jarden Inc., that seemingly sells much more stuff to Costco, this Bicycle deal may only be a nice add-on to the whole deal.

Regarding my prices: I think that it is extremely fair that I am only charging 3 US$ per deck, wherever you live. Shipping cost is only 6.50 US$ - worldwide! A pretty fair deal compared to a 10 $ deck of cards - less quality, don´t you think?

I have also considered buying the phoenix deck before, since again in my place, price of normal bike is similar to gold seal bike from online.(which is 4 USD including shipping)
but the thing I don't like about the phoenix deck is that their case is too bicycle like, which makes them looks like toy deck, and if people who don't know about phoenix deck, they will think that it is some toy bicycle deck from toys r' us. If they change the deck box, I will definately buy bricks! I think you shouldn't try to look like bike deck (pls just use ur own design ace of spade and don't include the bike like one) you are phoenix, not bicycle. I think if you make ur own phoenix style, you will attract more customers than trying to make ur deck bike alike looking.

and also, since you are better quality than bikes, you wouldn't want to make ur package looked like bike, and make people who are not fimiliar to ur deck that it is another special version of bike or some brand trying to look like bike, do u??;)

Just my opinion, don't need to take it too seriously.

as for buying bulk bicycle, if there are no costco is ur place, and t11's shipping is too expensive, try kardwell if you really mean by buying bulk, you can get $3.2 USD for a deck of tally ho if you buy 72 decks. And I believe bike is cheaper than tally ho by a few cents per deck. (that price is including shipping)

I think DelMagic may be right. The statement that Costco or Sams Club sells seconds has been brought up before, but has been refuted by at least one member here who went to the trouble of contacting USPCC directly about this and other issues associated with the varying quality of their flagship brand.

That said, I have heard at least one member here joke that all Bicycles are 2nds--meaning that the quality has never been consistent--especially as the company has changed hands over the years and most recently moved from Cincinnati, Ohio to across the river in Erlanger, Kentucky.

Now, back to the point of this thread
I would suggest contacting: Kardwell International

First of all, with Kardwell, as one increases the size of their order, the price per deck goes down, but shipping costs only increase fractionally. For example, you won't get a big price break per deck on 1 brick versus 3 bricks, but the shipping will only increase by about 50%. Shipping for 6 bricks is only about 2 times the cost of shipping for one brick. Surface shipping to my location in the states was only $12 for one brick and $22 for 6 bricks

(By the way, Tally Ho's are only $147 for 6 bricks)

As stated, these percentages are based on shipping in the US, but I'm guessing that although much higher, international shipping would still adjust proportionally as the order size is increased.

None of this is advantage to me, since I can still buy Bikes cheaper at my local Sams Club store.

I tried to use Kardwell's shipping calculator for an overseas shipment to Melbourne, but it came back with the message that it was unable to calculate and to contact the company for a cost. I may have made an error in the address, but at worst this would mean you might have to Email them to get a quote. The Australian and the US dollars are apparently very close at the moment. For example: Six bricks were $136.00 in US currency and $136.27 Australian

As stated, 6 bricks, or 72 decks, will run you $136 or $1.88 per deck. If you can get this shipped for anything less than $80, you will come out at $3 or less per deck. Of course this may be a lot more decks than you want to buy at the present, but I would suggest finding a few card playing or magic friends who would be willing to go in on the order and share expenses. Conversely, you could buy it all yourself, and sell extra decks to your buddies at a reasonable price of $4 or $5 per deck. Sell off 42 decks of your order at $5 per deck and you will net 30 decks completely free. Sell them at $4 per deck and 30 decks will end up costing you only $42. Of course this assumes that you can stay under $80 to ship.

It might be worth the inquiry.

Cheers

Correct. I believe I am the member you refer to in your post. I have had a great many exchanges with uspcc about their cards, cuts ect. Often one person has no idea what they are talking about. Costco cards are NOT seconds as we know them.

I would also recommend cardwell. Try "fullboatdealer" on eBay, good seller, good guy.

I'd suggest Casino giftshops as an unreliable source for cheap premium cards.

The local charity casino sells their decks after they are removed from play, sometimes they have a hole drilled through the middle, and sometimes they have 2 of the corners clipped.

They sell the decks 3 for a dollar. In the past they've had Tally Ho, Gemanco, and Bikes, and in June I bought 3 dozen Bees to use for blackjack at a Stag & Doe party.

Just had my aunt pick me up a 12 pack from Costco and they were $14.69. Not bad at all. But they are the Bicycle Standards.

On topic: Sam's Club carries the Bicycle Standards in boxes of 12 packs for about $15.00.

Off topic, slightly: I just bought 8 packs of the Phoenix deck. They have a different feel. They seem thinner, even though they are not, and a bit more flexible than my Bicycles. I like them a lot. I am now re-learning the DL with the Phoenix cards because of the different feel. No big deal, really, but I am wondering just what is the issue here? Bicycle Standards are certainly high enough in quality to perform our usual feats and do last a pretty long time.

What is the issue? Cost? Certainly 12 packs for $15 from either Costco or Sam's is cheap enough. Quality? I have a pack of Fox Lake strippers that are 50 years old and still work pretty well after being in storage for many years. When you guys talk about quality, just what do you mean, how long they last, or how easy it is to manipulate the pack? I am not being contentious, I just want to know what the concern is all about. Twelve packs of cards will last me for several months, but I am not a real "worker," just a casual performer. Maybe that is the difference, I don't know.
