Is the Coin Through Bottle Scam still around? It starts out with bar bets. After everyone is drunk enough, someone does the quarter through the bottle trick. He refuses to reveal the secret. He may do it a couple more times, looking for a drunk who just has to know how it's done.

He takes the mark aside, shows him the gag and of course the drunk has to have the guarter. The con tells the mark the quarter is a special, custom made, one off item.

When I saw it pulled, 30 years ago, the con sold the coin for $50. I kept my mouth shut, but talked to the guy later. He sold a couple a week.

Oh that's a tricky little move. As with many however, very devious.
