I use the original routine since it's released and I really like it. Earlier on somebody asked about what happens if the spectator accidently tear out more than one page. I performed this effect hundreds of times and I have to confirm Luca it never ever happened with me at all.

I finally bought psychometry drawing extended, after being very satisfied with his amazing "the ultimate chair test routine". I am a person who buys too many effects and are too often disappointed. When a professional is releasing material from his repertoire it is usually much better depth in the routines and a completely different angle on the different sides of the effects. This time is no exception. I will thank Luca for selling this rutine and I will impatiently be waiting for his next release.

I just got PDE and I love it! Brilliant ideas, smart, practical! I'm just now becoming familiar with Luca's work and I gotta say I'm an instant fan. I can't wait to go through this thread in more detail and read some of the ideas posted here.
So many releases out these days, only a few can qualify as "real work" that's practical and deserving of a spot in our performances! You can tell that this is something from a real worker's arsenal! I already have a great idea for this and will be making it a part of my performance material. Almost everything I do is my own stuff, its hard to find material to squeeze in with so much to choose from, this is definitely something that belongs in my act. DITTO.... Luca is DA MAN. Thanks Luca! Coz |

I too have to chime in. I think Luca continues to put out solid practical material. The best part about his most recent release is that you can literally go into someones home, office etc and in 2 minutes create the necessary gimmick right on the spot with their materials. It doesn't get any better than that. What a way to make an impression on a potential client!
Nicely done Luca! Max

I tried this routine out yesterday for the first time. I used favorite actors as a theme and using the completely hand-off method (bonus tip 3) I was affraid I might not be able to "guess" the last participants thought because of all the other thoughts, but I like to take risks. (those who own the manuscript know what I mean) And I was able to do it, even the bad handwriting wasn't a problem.
I did notice a bit of dead time though when each of the participants wrote their favorite actor's name down. One could decrease the amount of time needed by handing out 4 notepads, but I like the idea of using only one pad. This seems to help to distract from the actual method because my peers in the audience actually where convinced that to accomplish this effect I had to use one stooge. (although the participants were chosen at random) Any tips on how to fill this down time are welcome.(I'm standing with my back to the participants the whole time that they are writing and passing on the pad) Anyway the routine plays very strong, even to those who are 'in the know'. I will add this presentation to my act. Thanks for sharing this.

Bartelli,
I would use the time they need to write to introduce the envelopes to the audience, have them checked and shuffled by a person in the front row and then let her come on stage to collect the drwawings, put them in the enevlopes and mix them again. This will help to eliminate downtime and will be even more hands-off. Regards Stefan PS: What kind of pen do you use? A pencil or ball point or felt tip? |

HI Bartelli the "dead time" can be covered easly speaking menwhile they do the drawing or, as Stefan suggested, you can have people mixing the envelope.I pm'd you btw.
Thanks, Im really happy that you performed it and went great!

Thank you all for the reactions. A couple of people PM'd me, including Luca.
Now I can work on a solution that suits my style. I don't touch the notepad after I have given it to the first participant. Well I take it back from the last one. @stefan: I use a ball point pen. I might try a version with the felt tip pen, but I'm affraid that it would be harder to distiguish the different thoughts. I might consider a less hands-off approach because the felt-tip drawings are better visible for the audience. I don't have the right material for this yet but I'm considering the p-pad.

Btw there is a nice subtelty of Larry Becker in his routine where he count from 10 to 1 (he give ten second to write on the pad) and is great to cover the dead time...

“Any tips on how to fill this down time are welcome.(I'm standing with my back to the participants the whole time that they are writing and passing on the pad)” You can use the “Think” musical themes from popular games like “Jeopardy !” and “ Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” to fill the dead time. These musical themes can be downloaded from amazon.com for less than a dollar. In Belgium, an international adaptation of ”Jeopardy !” was called Waagstuk! I don't think turning your back is needed. I would just look at another part of the audience as someone is writing.
I like using music and I also like the countdown that Becker uses. If I did the count down, I would have everyone count with me. Best Ray |

Dead time? Where did I hear that before?
(See earlier post) You could give everybody a pad or board at the start and have them draw at the same time, reducing the the time considerably. But that's nothing new, is it? Woodfield |
