The idea of Craig's Love Cards reminds me a bit of the Bill Goldman mentalism packet effect "Mental Yarn" from some years back.
http://www.penguinmagic.com/product.php?ID=705 I could be wrong on the methods being similar, but I find that most spectators never remember the "process" of Mental Yarn - but they do remember the result and it is a great effect.

I thought it was clear that the trick was presented as an announcement/demo (it is their show) rather than a "review" which is obviously silly.

My wife saw the video and thought it used those calendar type cards you get in Christmas Crackers.
Thumbs down from me I'm afraid. Craig should concentrate on plugging his new coin set instead of this and his so-so chop cup routine. |

Xcath1 was right... they didn't give it a % so it wasn't a review.
Its their show, if they want to advertise their own product on it, I don't see the harm as long as they don't cross over into mock-review.

Wow, lots of comments on this thread.
You can not release a trick and have it appeal to everyone, for those of you that like the concept - thanks for your comments for those of you that don't - that's for your comments. Regarding the method we aren't trying to fool anyone, instead we wanted to show you the EXACT effect so you could make an informed decision. Look at the Powerball 60 trailer - we could have shot it like that and hidden the workings totally. We didn't because we are trying t be honest. I will say that on ther DVD there are multiple ways of performing the effect. What you saw me do it just one way. Finally if you were not impressed with my performance again I'm sorry. Im sure if you think you could do bette you probably could. In fact Russell was meant to shhot the performance but wasn't available. If he had been I'm sure he would have done a better job. Having said that I thought I did ok! Anyway thanks for your comments guys! If you are at Blackpool I'll see you there. Craig |

Craig; you can't win. You do a demo with lots of edits and you get hit with accusations of fowl play, you do an honest demo which shows the trick in an honest way and you get pulled upfor that as well.
Imagine you filmed card to forehead in the same way....you'd say the trick was obvious, but I bet the spectators wouldn't have a clue. Come on guys, you can't have it both ways. Do you really think Craig and Russell are performing a trick that doesn't fool anyone or get good reactions? |

Dr. Magic said "Kioku by Outlaw or PSYPHER by Robert "B" Smith would be 1000 times better to use than these cards."
I have to disagree about Kioku. Even with a good presentation, many people saw that this was just a math based concept.

I think that any counting procedure does, in some way, need to be justified.
In Kioku it does get justified to some degree with the patter refering to a "memory tranfer". Surely if it isn't given reason, no matter how well it is presented, the spectator will always wonder why they couldn't just pick any card and think of any word on it. Let's be honest if we really could read minds this is what we would do isn't it?? When we work in other areas of magic everything needs to happen for a reason. If we need to go to our pockets we will go to great lengths make this look natural (put a pen away, or grab some "woofle dust" ). Same goes here.. |

That shouldn't preempt a discussion of the effect itself, however. And, by the same standards as used on WPR, it doesn't matter who invented or is performing an effect. Craig has said many times that the only important thing in a review/discussion is the effect itself.

I like to say "I used to let people just pick one but I noticed the same cards's kept getting picked, for instance if you're a party animal you might go for the Party Time card and no one for example picked Get Well or Goodbye so to make totally random there's 10 cards I want you to think of any number between 1 and 10 and count to that card."
Once they have done this you say "Ok now I'm going to get you to pick a line again we'll make it random so do you want to stick with the number you orginally picked or would you to change your number" They then pick a line, then a word..... Russell Leeds |

I was very impressed with the demo and would welcome it into my wallet
That was until I saw the price £30 are you sure Craig? |

I like Russel's wording for the "justification" will give it a second look but I agree, 30 (can't type pounds on my keyboard) seems a little rich

£30!!!
I've fallen out of love with this one. |

In regards to the price, yeah it would be great if it was £20. However think about this for a minute it comes with an indepth DVD covering mutiple handlings, including one method where you could be blindfolded from start to finish and 10 specially deigned full colour on both sides cards, which individually for non magical purposes when printed in huge numbers sell for typically £2 each, in the likes of Clintons Cards.
Furthermore let's take an effect like Powerball 60 which I personally bought and use. That comes with a shorter DVD and 6 scratchcards and I paid £35 for it twice( I lost my first set) Russell Leeds |

My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Remember that Craig and Dave generously donated "Roughed" as a holiday gift. I'm using Lottery Prediction all the time and it rocks.
Many thanks (and bows) to the Wizard Boys...
