I just came from a visit with Gary no less than an hour and a half a go. He is is good spirits.
Since the post above mentioned the amputation of his leg. The surgery is first off of an exploratory nature. They do need to remove a portion of his leg below the right knee. If there doesn't seem to be that much infection in the area at this time. They will go ahead with the amputation. Just thought I would clear that up. As I said he is in good spirits, If you know Gary Darwin he is the same old Gary even facing this. I too hope things go well. I'm sure it will go well. Gary Has been in Valley Hospital since sometime this past Friday and has many visitors come by. While we had been in his room he answered no less than 4 five calls in a 20 minuet period of time. So he's been keeping busy with everyone wishing him well and is much appreciative of it. |

I haven't seen Gary since a week ago this afternoon. But I do know that surgery went fine and that Gary is still getting visitors in the hospital. I'm not sure how much longer he will be in there. I will try to go see him this week sometime maybe later today even.

Gary probably does not remember me or my wife, but in the early 1980's we were
very young and newly weds. I was 22 she was 18. We went to a magicians meeting that they held on the strip at around midnight but I don't remember the night of the week. Well anyway, I was doing some card tricks for Jimmy Grippo and David Copperfield happened to be at this meeting that night. My wife is a big fan of his. To honor David, Gary Darwin had drawn a poster image of David and signed it. My wife wanted it. Gary says "It's five bucks." My wife says go tell my husband over there. Here comes Gary right in the middle of a card trick that I was doing for Jimmy Grippo and tells me I owe him five bucks. My wife just bought a poster from him. So I finished up the card trick and gave him the money and back he went. Of course my wife had David sign the poster which we still have to this day. Fond memories of Vegas in my youth. Get better soon Gary. Jim
