So, if I might ask, how are you mixing your flesh paint? Are you using acrylic paint from a craft store or something else?

Something else. Perhaps you can just buy a small quantity from a hobby shop making model airplanes and such.

Are you finding it in flesh tones or do you blend primary colors.

I just got mine in from Unique sounds. 1 year warranty. I disappointed in that since on line the warranty saw said 2 years and other said 3 years. They have a little sticker over the time length in the text on the card but pre printed it also stated a year.
A year is fine but 2 years would be better and 3 better than that since one doe snot know how long these internal batteries will last. I have not hooked it up yet since I am charging. I can not find how long to charge first time around. First impressions, Really nice packaging. Gives you the feel of professionalism. Soft/hard case nice for traveling. I have some concern about the length of the mic boom. the length of the boom is not adjustable like on my headset. So I have more wire than I need and Have to figure out how to curve it so it looks right. Right now I have a big curve in it to have it line up with the mouth instead of a straight line with a small curve. If I left it with a sleight curve or straight it is way too long. I have some concern how the ear clip works. It is more of wire and the transmitter pushes my ear out when fitting snug. The unit seems to flop around if not put in the ear. They recommend the round end goes in the ear and yes it fits snug but is pushing my ear out . I have to play with it more to see if I can keep the ear from being pushed out since it looks goofy. Boom is very flexible but is maybe a little too easy to bend out of the desired shape, My A/C adapter has a little high pitched hum/whistle. Can anyone confirm theirs does the same thing. It very distinct even a couple feet away. |

First impression continued...
There is about 2.5-3 seconds for power on or off. The manual only states" >1 second. " This is not a real issue since mute on/off was pretty fast and responsive. I did not notice any noise when the receiver was on but the mic off as someone posted on amazon.com There is a pop when the receiver was turned on and off but louder when the receiver was first turned on. Maybe this is why they want you to have the mic volume down before turning on the receiver. Many receivers do this and for performance the receiver would be on well before. However, the one might encounter this if they are trying to save battery power by not leaving the receiver on too long before the show. If you work most of the same rooms size and carry your own gear, one usually likes to keep the volume settings in place and not have to turn them down just to avoid the pop or squealing. Mute/on has no noise between modes. Very small TICK if you really listen but most will never even hear it and it. The microphone element is VERY small. It is much smaller than it looks in photos without the windscreen. I really dislike the size of the windscreen but understand its purpose. This screen is not overbearing but still larger than the element actually is. Warning: My unit came with the switch to line out not mic and when I fist plugged it in, it did havoc on the system. Then unlike others here, I had to cut the mic gain DOWN. It was set too high. I still have some issues with the ear clip. Since the black rubber really is just a wire embedded and not a fixed shape, I can not just pull the earset off and put it back on with one hand. Sure it pops right off but I can not get it back on with one hand. Also, if you are using the case, you loose any shape you had to position the boom. The case only allows storage of the mic straight. As I stated in the last post, this boom is too long and I have to arc it out and then back to the mouth. I will be working with it and testing the sound in the next few says. It is late to do a full sound test. So far so good but some quirks to figure out. |

Another quirky thing is the audio cable supplied is a stereo cable. But this is not a stereo mic nor most PA mic inputs are not stereo. So why this cable?
I called Samson and the product is too knew for them to have all the answers but I spoke to a tech. He said he checked the cable and it is a regular stereo cable. He said internally they must have bridged the two rings. this is done in the receiver. He felt they must of done this to make a stronger connection. Now my PA created a little issue. I had built mine with internal Mono cables for my Shure PGX system. And the amp I am using has 3 inputs but two are 1/8" Trying to adapt my mono to a stereo end did not work. Sticking a stero adapter on the mono cable worked. Whether I am loosing any signal I am not sure but it sounds fine. I still have issues with the earset fit. I is either two loose and floppy or it pushes the earlobe out or the back of the ear out. I have tried all sorts of adjustments but wheN I get it where it does not push on the ear, it was too loose. As I had orginally suspected, having the tansmitter on the back of your ear is bulky. I am fine with the LOOK of it. but the bulk creates some other issues with placement. Where I think it looks good at the ear it hangs out at the base. But maybe some Topstick would solve the issue but I do not want to always have to do it. I am thinking it is your ear size that will affect how well you can get this to not affect the ear positon. For instance, I have small lobes and can not do that figure throught the ear effect. I also think they would have been better not to use black rubber but a cream color. and then black on the back instead of silver. I was able to figure out my issue with the longer boom. It came down to when I start to angle it in. It lays much flater now. I still think the boom is easily moved out of yoru favorite shape. Battery- While I do not have real world tests until this weekend, I turned on the fully charged unit today and the battery was already too low. Not sure why since I only played with it. It must have some phantom power draw and will have to keep an eye on that. However I have it running now, in front of the TV playing through the amp. While not as loud as if one had been speaking. I think I am at 4 hours. So it is confusing why I had the low battery indicator only after two days and not using it more than a 14 minutes each time. Oh I did ask the tech about the expected battery life. It is 2 years. But I forget to ask about servicing it. They also told me it is only 1 year warranty but when I challanged that on line it stated 3 years. She said-"Yes we USED to give 3 years on our products." Bummer. Maybe I will do a Square Trade warranty. When they run 30-40% off the 3 year total warranty is $19.50 Basicially it extends the 1 year warranty 2 more years. (3 total) So I would guess the battery is covered when you go through them. |

Hi
It has been a little over 2 months of using the Earset so here is the updates so far I have pretty much found my comfort zone with the fit. I find that I have to lift my earlobe out over the unit to keep the transmitter in place. I no longer have the earpiece wrapped into the ear as they suggest for higher activites. I found it harder to put on if I had to set that every time. For the boom I press it in the shape of my cheek and then bend the mic element more towards the mouth. I suggest turning it on before setting in the ear since I have messed this up more than a few times, entering the program mode and changing the gain. You can also use the LED on the receiver or a mirror but otherwise it is safer to turn on and then put it in mute before putting it on the ear. I am confident moving around and bending over but feel I could shake it off So I wold not use this say in a sub trunk. I do enjoy the lack of the cord and have not colored my transmitter like I thought I would, Since it pushes my ear out a little, which no one has seemed to notice, it is pretty well hidden from face forward. I have not had the chance to see photos or video from the side andthen I might go back to my original thought of making the silver body match my hair color. I have a little issue with the sound quality on my PA. It seems a bit over modulated at times if you are an animated talker. So it seems to get scratcy sounding if I speak louder. I am trying to determine if this is just my PA, if it is how I am positioning the mic or if I still need to work with the gain. |

Thanks for the update. I have been keeping an eye on this thread. I have been thinking about buying one, but am unsure as I wear glasses. I'm afraid the earpiece will be crowded with the glasses.

I wear contacts and glasses. Mostly contacts while performing. I just put the unit on with glasses. I would say best to put the transmitter on first then the glasses.
Of course glasses vary in arm length and thickenss but I do not feel over crowed. You maybe feel it pushing between the transmitter and head but the sensation goes away and actually seems to keep the transmitter more secure and at the best angle. So glasses might actually be a plus. |
