PS Stucky, I shot the video with a magicians side table, but it had a black top, so to make board standout(because it's mostly black too) for the sake of the demo video, I placed a green felt over top, but obviously when a close up worker is performing in the real world, they will want a board, pad, mat, platform etc to place down on those gross sticky restaurant tables, coffee tables, hall tables, floors, or just in their laps so they have a flat level surface to perform on etc etc. We have all seen those gross looking and worn packet tricks magicians bring out that look all worn and gross cause the performer has used them over and over again on dirty surfaces, or the magician that tries to do a card trick on his lap placing cards on his knees, as they all tumble over revealing a double backer, I could go on, but really can't believe I'm actually defending the use of a prodessional close up board on a forum dedicated to magic.

Peter - I've built my own close up mat that's somewhat larger than most...more along the lines of a poker table in a casino (though not quite that large!) I'm wondering if this is the kind of thing that I could embed into the mat and have it still function, even if it were covered with a layer of batting and felt on top of it? Is it something where I would need access to a certain part of it (a side, bottom?) or could it be totally enclosed? Not fishing for the workings, I'm just curious about the possibilities of incorporating it into my current working space and the "strength" of it, if you will. Nice work!

Dr.Magic, you may have a point.
Andrew, while ShockWave is 100% self-contained you will need access to the board to be able to have it do all that it can do. Sorry. Peter.

At first I thought the same as gaffed.
However, thinking again this product is genius. In the right place with the right sequencing of effects this 'hidden' prop will kill. I'm ordering one just so I can play with it on my own. Peter, one question, any noise issues when in operation? |

Hi Andi, Thank you!
She is super super quiet, as it doesn't use electronics or noisy inner mechanical parts. You would have to shush everyone in the room, and put your ear down on the board as objects moved(and in an aggressive manner), and even then, its hard to really make anything out (and obviously this would never happen during performance anyway...lol). I designed this for close up, so I had to design it in such a way that it didn't talk during animations other than just the sound of the object moving anyway as it normally would, and the end result is very stealthy! No problem Andrew, and Andi, I actually had written in the ad copy the phrase "silent but deadly" but thought people would have thought I was refering to something else...lol, so I changed the phrase in the ad copy, just a funny tidbit I thought I would share.

I could see this as a replacement top for one of my Spyder tables.
But it would need to be square. is that a possibility? Steve |

I asked Peter a couple of questions about the workings of Shockwave via PM and my order is going in. It's brilliant.
Steveline, you can order rubber corks from the spyder website (about £10) to turn anything into a table top. It doesn't need to be square, just arrange the corks into a square formation under the rectangular table top. |

Thanks Andi for the info, good to know, and seems to be the easiest solution, However Steve if that doesn't work out for you, I may be able to custom make you a ShockWave, just send me an email and we can talk.
Best, Peter.

Just a quick update for anyone still interested:
ShockWave is in production in my shop as we speak and right on schedule, and will be shipping soon! Thanks to all who have ordered this through my website or through one of my dealers, the response has been overwhelming! I originally had only planned to build 24-36 units to start, but we ended up selling around 70 in the first week, so we increased our first production run to 100 units, and I've brought in extra help to meet demand. We have now sold at total of 93 units as of last night, in just a week and a half, so I only have 7 available units left out of the first run for anyone still interested. After that you will have to wait until I can make more. Thanks, P.

I wish there was a version of this that was aged and looked less modern. I would buy one for sure if you make an aged version, perhaps with a wooden frame.

This looks great, Peter! How much "handling" of the board do you have to do while the effect is in progress?
Now appearing nightly in my basement.

Hello necroloid, I have some really cool accessories and add ons I have planned for this. One of the things Im toying with is a shell that will fit over the existing Shockwave edges that will turn it into an old antique aged looking board. the shell would keep it the exact same thickness(about an 1 inch) its just the width and length that would increase in size slightly.
MaxfieldsMagic, thank you sir, that's the great thing about ShockWave; You have full control on the fly over the board with no apparent hand movement at all, it is super stealthy. There are also a ton of different ways for you to control the board with your hands on or off the board. Best, Peter

Thanx Peter for the reply. This has now become a must buy. I hope that I am not too late to get in on the first run. You would not have an ETA on the arrival of the add on by chance?
