There are two on the market. Yogano which I am told cannot be performed surrounded. However, can be modified to perform surrounded. The other is Wireless Wizardry which can be performed surrounded. My budget is more a used Yogano. Before I invest in one, I want to know if it can be modified and how. PM me if you need to go into details.

From the assumption that the workings of both are pretty much equal, both could be modified to be performed surrounded. In both cases the audience should be distant from you, though, and even then there would be a serious risk of getting caught in the act.
If you desperately need to perform this surrounded, quit the idea for the sake of secrecy and consider a different effect. Yogano has a nifty suspension that I believe could be done surrounded. |

I've been using the Yogano barstool for several years now and I can do it surrounded BUT I wear a cape.
The only problem I see with the other one is: you have to wear a harness.

Wireless Wizardry has the gimmick concealed completely so you can perform it surrounded. Yogano has it exposed so from the back and the sides you will see it. Those of you who own the Yogano can you think of any way that the gimmick can be hidden by your cloths or between your l***?

I used both from 2000 - 2006, first Yogana then Wireless Wizardry and then rotating between the two depending on the show.
It is very hard to conceal the Yogona from all angles with just a costume. I used a white cloth with rods that draped like a cape of sorts as part of the theatrical presentation. I have also used a girl wearing a skirt that covered side angles but not back. It is not possible to hide the gimmick between the legs to conceal from the side and back angles. J C

It is possible to hide the leg part if you use a lady assistant with a long gown and the slit is at the back of her gown. The under gimmick must also have the same material as her gown. I have fashioned the under gimmick to the shape of a butt using soft foam.
If I use it, I use the same cloth material for the under gimmick depending on the pants I wear.

Wireless Wizardry is the bets and most expensive totally concealed but its not practical. You can't walk around with that brace on for very long. I wouldn't use it.

The Barstool levitation that Kapmagic sells is an unauthorised version of Yogano's barstool levitation and apart from being a rip-off it is also badly build - beware! newsmaya & magickleark seem to have a connection with kapmagic (see also their other posts about kapmagic) so their comments should be ignored as they are not valid!

Yes Tristan,
That's why I asked for footage of the Ashrah, performed on a cruise(ship?)! |

For Kaps Magic and Magickleark
The original Bar Stool Levitation is a design of Christian Fechner. So it's important for you to own his book about his FISM act '79, it has the description complete with drawings. |
tristanmagic Special user 533 Posts |
Christian Fechner created the first levitation on a barstool for his FISM Act in Brussels in 1979.
He later published it in his book(s)'Soiree Fantastique' and he gave permission to Wireless Wizardry to build his version. The Fechner version is not easy to perform so when Yogano had an idea to make it a lot simpler he contacted his friend Christian and asked permission to build and sell his version of this effect. The effect in both version is the same but the Fechner version is more impossible looking while Yogano's version is easier and simpler to perform. Yogano only has given one company in France permission to build and sell his version, all the others are rip-off's and most of them are badly build! He also published in his book so owners of this book can build one for themselves but the rights come (and stay) with the book. |

Thanx Tristan,
Now it's clear for everybody. You give information about the real source, the history and about the legal rights. Now flight10 can make up his mind and make the right choice. The only way we can stimulate honesty in magic! |
