What are your favorite "self-working" tricks that you either carry with you or that you use the most often?
Thanks, Brian |

Although self-working is a misnomer, we always make the magic happen, there are a couple of tricks I have taken directly from the "Jaw Droppers" series by Larry Anderson that are very good for simplicity and affect on an audience.
My favorite, lately has been with my wedding band and a rubber band. (I love saying it that way). The ring appears to be climbing up an incline. Gets a much better reaction than I thought it would. It won't work as a stand alone trick because it is easy to back track the steps and come up with the answer. But when combined with a few quick tricks it is great.

Color Monte - It easily fits in my back pocket.
Regular Deck - Can do Re-Set, Limo Service, 'Biddle Trick' (ellusionist), etc |

I'm also going thru the Jawdroppers vids I bought off of ebay and have been pleasantly surprised at the quality.
Would out of this world be considered self-working? It's one of my favorites and very easy to do. Brian |

Ok as for Gemini Twins, you have the spectator shuffle the cards, then you very cleanly pick two cards out of the deck as predictions. You then have the spectator take the deck and start dealing cards to the table stopping when ever they would like, you then put one of the predictions at that point, you have them deal down again until they feel like stopping and you put the second prediction in at that spot...
You spread the cards and the two cards they stopped on match your prediction cards...

OK for "In A Flash". I have a couple assist. You have one of them pick a card and sign it and than that card is "That Person". You give the other a quarter and the quarter is now "That Person". The card is placed back into the deck and the quarter is wrapped in "Flash Paper" and placed on top of the deck. You light the "Flash Paper" and the quarter melts down through the deck stopping at a card. You turn that card over and it is the other individual's card. REALLY AWESOME!!

mrlavaboy,
Gemini twins is a GREAT story trick using four cards, it is entertaining, has lots of surprises and packs a STRONG punch. I'm not sure of a reference in print (shame on me!) but i know it is described in one of the Ammar on cards videos, and also in one of the bill Malone videos (I think he calls it "end of story", b/c he adds a unique kicker to the effect). You really can't go wrong w/ either set of videos. I THINK (?) the effect was originally created by Bro. John Hamman, so it is probably written up in the large book of his work put out by Richard Kaufman. (someone please correct me, if I completely made that last part up). Anyway, I consider the effect one of my top 10 effects........top 5 with a borrowed deck!!! - dave s. |

I will do the Color Monte using the joker, ace of spades, and queen of hearts. Personally, I think it is stronger than with the specially printed cards because you used the cards from their deck. People tend to think the specially printed cards are somehow gimmicked anyway.
Dunburry's Delusion, PDQ coins across, and Crazy Man's Handcuffs are also on my "A" list. |
