Hmmm. You wanted to purchase thousands of dollars worth of gaffs and you never got a response. Who was that gaffer? I've seen you post similar gripes about not being able to get hold of whoever that gaffer is. You even posted advice on Lassen's blog about how he should run his business. But you never tried to contact him. That is strange.
"I'll continue buy them second hand from people who actually seem to care about customer service. Obviously these guys are too busy and don't need my money. I just find it hard to give them my respect either, regardless of the quality of their work, when they can't even bother to have an automated outgoing message on their email." You wrote all that and you NEVER tried to contact Lassen? Well, since it wasn't Lassen, you might want to try and contact him. He is the best, and since the other gaffers are treating you so rudely that they won't even take your thousands of dollars, I would suggest you try to contact Lassen. But wait, I see he ain't buying that either. I guess you are sh** out of luck. |

Can always count on you for a reply to anything Lassen related. And no, I didn't post anything on his blog related to how he should run his business, although he sure thought it would be funny to alter my posts and make it appear I said things that I didn't, so you might want to get your facts straight before you start throwing accusations around. My 6-year old nephew is more mature. The guy must be incredibly insecure to spend his time scouring the Internet for anything that could be taken as criticism and then launch into a tirade about the person on his blog. God forbid someone should have an opinion or a different point of view on anything. I look forward to whatever childish reply he has in store for what I'm writing now. And what a waste of time since, as I've said before, I wasn't referring to him in the first place but he decided to make it about him.
At least I put myself out there for people to trash and make fun of, rather than hiding behind some screen name without a photo. I have no problem with my opinions or what I say and I'm secure enough to say it and not act like a child whenever someone says something I don't like. You on the other hand are clearly biased...makes me wonder who you are since you come out of the woodwork every time someone has something to say about Lassen. I'd start my own blog to childly trash other people when I didn't like their reactions to my opinions, but that would just be ridiculous...right?

Did you learn backpeddling and smoke screening in that big college you went to? Because you are great at avoiding the question. Which gaffer was it that ignored you when you had all that money to spend??? So much so, that you are so disguted that you buy everything second handed now, after your repeated failures in trying to contact some mystery gaffer. Get real, we are not infants here.

Not infants? Coulda fooled me. I'm not mentioning gaffers by name on purpose because I have no interest in dragging specific people through the mud, unlike some. I will say that I have emailed several people over the years and haven't gotten replies. They do good work and I respect that, which is why I'm not going to mention any names, but it's happened with more than one person. It's the same reason I don't contribute to the "worst product I ever bought" threads. That's just a recipe for conflict and I'm not interested in going down that road. It's too bad when there's no safe place to vent your frustration over something without it being attacked.
It's pretty clear that your loyalties are to Todd, and I have no issue with that, but why should I name names? So you can have more ammo against another gaffer? What's your interest in the matter anyway? You talk about smoke screening - it's awfully easy to say whatever you want when you hide behind the anonymity of the Internet without a name or any link to who you really are. Like I have said MULTIPLE times, I was not referring to Lassen. I was referring to several other gaffers, and I'm leaving it at that. Jump to all the conclusions you want to about what that means, but this is EXACTLY why I didn't name any names. It's too bad that Todd decided to make it about him when it wasn't. That wasn't my doing, it was his.

Andrew, just because someone uses a nickname with no photo, it does not follow that anyone is 'hiding'. Yes, there are times when knowing who someone is can be a factor, but not in this dispute between you and Polygon.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

I happen to disagree but am not really interested in continuing any "dispute."

Calling someone in the US from the UK didn't really seem the greatest idea if I couldn't even get hold of him in an email, Jamie got back to me straight away, and even returned my missed call so I went with him, likewise with Xavier. This isn't me putting anyone down, it was just my experience, maybe he had lots going on and that's it

My two cents: I look for one thing in my props when I buy them: Practicality. Not collectablity. I have been doing business solely with my two preferred gaffers because of the terrible experiences I have had with certain others, and more because of their serious lack of professionalism.
If I am going to pay a small fortune for a coin or multiple coins, I want them to be in as original and un-gaffed state as possible. Those are the truly collectable pieces. That is not to say that some gaffs are not a thing of beauty and to some extent, a work of art. I appreciate the collectability of certain items and things, as I own some historically significant items, both magic and non-magic. Just because one pays $500 for a coin set or $80 for a change bag does not mean it is good. If it was made to look good and not really made for regular use, then is it really worth all the money? I have seen gimmicks that look great and work within an awesome concept, but the materials used were not so great and were poorly put together. No matter the cost of an item or the ability of a person to afford it, the main point I make comes down to one word: Practicality. Nothing to do with who is better than whom because as mentioned before, it is in fact a matter of 'To each his own.' Practicality still rules. |

If you want a good shell set, for the price they cost Keupper's are fantastic. I have an expanded shell set from him and love it. Of course Lassen's, Swadling's, Schoolcraft's etc are all good however for a very reasonabe price you get fantastic quality from Roy. I am not saying that his are necessarily better but certainy extremey high quality and for a very affodrable price.
