Hi all,
Here is a card control inspired by Dave Forrest's Whirligig control. I created this after playing around with various discrepancies that could be smoothened, to create a card control. Enjoy! Havea nice day! Kyle |

Ok so you can almost do a move. A move is NOT entertainment. I don't care how many moves you can do. Entertain me with a great routine!

I Must Concur.. the 'Move' looks awkward and is overly obvious as to the 'Method'

Is this your own move Kyle?
I think you need to consider what benefits this would offer over similar controls with the card sticking out like that as the action of turning card and deck around seems a little "shady" when you think of something such as the marlo convincing control which you would never suspect. That control gave me that "he's just dine something" feeling. But I think with a bit of tweaking it could be smoother. |

Hey thanks Paul and Vin.
Its my own move, its basically used like this: Okay, so we'll put your card back in. In fact please may YOU push it in (Say this as you turn it around so they can push it in). I was basically trying to create a control that didn't need any cuts or shuffles, just something clean, and in this case I based it on Dave Forrest's Whirligig control. I have actually had some good feedback for it before posting, so I thought you guys may enjoy it also. It also works very well on layman, flys past them! Thanks again though, Kyle Kyle |

To be fair to Kyle here, the control of mine that he's based this on (The Whirligig Control - see it in the trailer here: http://www.full52.com/deception.htm ) doesn't exactly mirror an orthadox way to handle cards. It does look a bit weird which may be why Kyle's variarion look a little funky too! I should have called it the 'Marmite Control' because you either love it or you hate it!
Anyway, I like your handling Kyle - maybe it's just a move for a moves sake but what's wrong with that? Nothing I say! Dave.

Hey Stanyon,
The difference is I take the top packet and place it on top, instead of the bottom packet. No breaks are held. And less swivelling is needed. Also I cut it in Hindu Shuffle grip. Kyle |

It looks like you put the card into the center and then put cards from the center to the top. What's the motivation for such an odd sequence? It's not clear what you are supposed to be doing (in fact it took me two views to understand what this is supposed to look like), so I would guess that most people will guess rightly that you try to control the card to the top.

I find this control quite convincing.
A card is selected -- you start to push it into the inner end of the deck but change your mind and stop leaving it jogged for all to see -- you rotate the cards so the card is now pointing towards the spectator and allow then to push it home. What's the problem? The problem is that it's a video burning the hands. The moment of misdirection -- when you rotate the packet while asking the spectator to push his card home (and it is at this moment that you would look at the spectator as you speak to him making eye contact) -- is impossible to convey on video without cutting away. Try demonstrating a classic Top Change invisibly for a video camera... Peter

I agree the "you tube" framing does the move no favours. All I was saying was that there are numerous controls for various situations and in my opinion there needs to he a reason for handling cards like this as it is not the most natural thing to do. With a bit more of a performance around it, I think it would be good. Let's be honest you cannot have too many controls in your kit bag. |
