With every bottle of crystal skull vodka you will also get a bass-o-matic, but you have to CALL NOW!

Bass-o-matic? Is that related to the pocket fisherman? (just got one of them)

Bass-O-Matic was the "Bass in a blender" skit that Ackroyd did on SNL. Later, a skit called "Bass Ballet" appeared, which used no words, a fish, a blender, and a guy in tights (Not Akroyd).

My Pocket Fisherman served me well. I used to take it on camping trips because it fit into my backpack better than a traditional rod and reel. We caught a largemouth bass on it once. It was both practical and durable, unlike many other "as seen on TV" gadgets.

Regarding Mr. Akroyd: some would say that he is enlightened to paths that most barely understand, others would say that he drinketh of his own kool-aid a bit too much. Spiritualism is in his family background, and he does have more than a passing interest in related projects associated with his name.

The vodka is average when compared to its' top shelf counterparts, but WELL worth the cost for the skull shaped bottle.

Do any fellow residents of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania know if Crystal Head made it onto the list of State Store sale items?

I bought one for my crystalskulllovin' sister for christmas, but haven't sunk the coin into one for myself yet.

Sorry but in PA the crystal skull isn't on the discontinued sale this time around, which was a surprise to me. Since I would guess that folks would never buy more than one. How many vodka filled glass skulls does one need?

I watched the video and thought about the "filter" of diamonds which are the hardest crystal? How does that help? Just goes to show that the gimmick of a unusual bottle works. A great idea but very doubtful it will last....maybe there is a lesson for us performers to be learned? Maybe I should try to be the "Banker's Club" of sideshow...OK I'll shoot a little higher and maybe aim for being the "Stoli."

Chris, when it was first debuted it was available on every state store vodka shelf. I haven't seen it, although I am not a vodka man personally. When I go the the state store I head for the bourbon area. I see no reason for it to be unavailable. The diamond filtration is a good snake oil pitch, my guess is that diamond is carbon the same as coal... charcoal filtration being the standard. Unfortunately diamonds won't do a darned thing to make liquor better.

Now I am verrrry intersted in the Tom Hanks femur shaped whiskey bottle.... remember "the Burbs"? "It's a femur bone... this is Walter!"

Nipps,

Thanks for the info. In this area, at least recently, Ackroyd stopped by to do a VIP promo bit at the local casino. During this time, most State Stores had the opportunity to order two units for their shelves, but were not required to do so. So in this area it is "HTF" but not impossibly unavailable. I paid full-price for my sister's gift, and only needed to visit two State Stores to find it on the shelves.

The State Stores have just announced a statewide liquidation sale to make room on their shelves and money for the Commonwealth. I am curious to know if Crystal Head is on that universal sale list because I want one for myself but am notsohot on the $49.50 controlled price, especially when I am not a vodka drinker. So my question is less of a "where" and more of a "can I get it cheaper" type thing.

Chris, where in PA are you located? I live close enough to cross the Delaware and buy the same stuff more readily available and a bit cheaper in NJ.

This website has just about every variety of hooch I can think of if you want to order some:

Does also depend on your local booze delivery laws. I am not responsible for that, winky face.

Gotta love this 'docu-mercial' which is very reminiscent of the "unexplainable, supernatural" TV show Ackroyd did decades ago.

BTW, a friend of mine travels to Central and South America on a fairly regular basis and he is friends with a "crystal skull keeper."

To each their own, eh?

To correct myself, of course it is "Aykroyd."
Being a vodka fan, I've seen this around but have yet to taste it.

My sister's pilgrimages to AZ are for the same reason.

Fortunately, we have similar tastes in decor, so that even though our individual motivation is very different gift buying is very easy. If I think that it would look good on my shelf or wall, there's a better than good chance that she'll like it, and I've gotten some uber-cool props from her. My Chilean walking stick is probably my favorite bit of "functional art" that she acquired for me a few years ago.

Nipps, I'm in Pittsburgh just south of the city line, but I may check in with you before I travel to Philly in May.

Cool! I'll help you avoid the cliches of Philly (i.e. cheesesteaks, pretzels, being mugged and/or murdered...)

Dnny, where did you find the Tom Hanks bourbon? PA stores don't carry it.
